auto topup kit

Was wanting to know if anyone uses these on nft tanks and there thoughts on it and any cons to if any of having it,thanks.??

What exactly is it, just a float valve? Do you have a link?

Well auto top off is a great thing so long as you are using RO water. If using tap water then it can cause the pH to fluctuate a lot. Some also choose to top off with a premix tank of lower strength nutrients. Just depends on the system and how much the plants consume PPM and H2O.

About the only downside I can think of off the top of my head is the event of a leaking float valve, this happens more on unfiltered tap water but it does happen and that can flood a room if connected to an endless supply of water. One thing that can be done to mitigate the cleanup is to have a dump off port thats higher than the water level should ever be, plumbed to a floor drain. In the event of a leaky float the water will overflow into the drain and not the floor, meanwhile the PPM will drop as pure water keeps entering the system.
