Auto Northern Light first grow help

So i planted three Auto NL seed exactly 11 days ago. I didn't notice any big problems but i had to transplant them (i know, it can be bad for autos to be transplanted) in an intermediate pot while i'm planning to buy three 4 gallon pot so probably i shocked them and i interrupted their grow for a couple of days. I'm growing them outside and i'm not using any nutes yet. However i expected a faster grow and moreover one of them (the second in the photo gallery) is a lot smaller than the others and it have a purple stem. I would like to know what can i do for the tiny one and if i have to expect a small yield from this grow, just not have false hopes regard them. (i know, probabily it is only anxiety, however this is the reason why i'm growing NL, anxiety!)

Your soil looks more like mud than something that cannabis would like to grow in. Would have helped if you did a little reading in the forums before starting off on the wrong path.

I don't know what you are using for soil and it may be perfectly good soil but it needs about 25% perlite mixed in to be suitable for pot or many other types of plants.

I would prepare some 3 - 5 gal pots/pails with a new batch of soil with the perlite mixed in, wet it well and transplant those sprouts yet again so they get their best chance to grow decently. Still likely to be stunted and never produce to their potential.

If you got any more seeds I'd start over in the new mix. You could still transplant those ones into a better mix but I wouldn't use larger than 2gal pot for them or put all 3 in a larger pot.

Good luck eh.

I've been seeing a lot of posts about Northern Lights issues. I too and having big problems with my NL auto. My 3 other strains are doing great, but the NL is wasting away. Others are budding and the NL can barely hold a leaf without wilting, curling or burning. I wonder if it's a finicky strain? I'd say it's 100% me (still probably is), but my other ones are doing great.

I got NL#5, NL and NL#10 and never had problems with any. Might just be a bad seed. I just realized I haven't grown the #10 yet and should as the seeds are 6 or 7 by now.

Probably a bum seed. NL is extremely reliable in most cases.

Autos have a little different lifecycle than photos. To Be honest they don't look that bad. Right now they are focusing on root growth.

To maximise auto yield they should really get more light than mother nature will provide.. At least veg them indoors for 4 weeks under some CFL's or something then put outside. Start and finish in the same pot. Can't go wrong with Fox Farms Soil or Roots Organic. I like 3 gallon pots for autos. I can't say I like any soild from Home Depot.

My friend grew a NLxBig Bud seed that I gave him. He started it indoors in a 3 gallon pot and would put it outside during the day and bring in at night and put back under lights for a total of 20 hours of light per day. That thing got huge for an auto. 3 Feet tall and bushy. He got 3 ounces off of it.

YOu will want some bloom nutes. No real need for Veg nutes,

@sunny747 Is it better to get them outside during the day rather than keep in the tent under the 600w LED? I've been running them 24/0.

BTW, I am a rank beginner, in case that wasn't apparent.

Mmm... I didn't know you had a 600w LED. Yea, I'd probably keep them under that. It's not great to take plants in and out because of bugs etc...

Cut the lights back to 20/4 I think.

Cool. Will try that. Side topic: Is it ok to scrog these or should I just let them go wild? I only minimally pruned because I read it's counterproductive for autos?

What kind of soil? I'm using FF Ocean which seems to have really good drainage properties. I began by over watering, then underwatering (spraying)... Once I raised my lights and watered heavy, less often, things started to progress. Make sure you get a fair percentage of run-off each time you water, then wait for it to dry up a good deal (but not DRY) before watering again.

My NL is a lost cause I think...no signs of buds. I think I hermie'd and otherwise messed up a few of mine from the learning curve.
