Auto Flowers have low thc content?

Is it true that AutoFlower strains are lower in thc content? I've also heard they are small and low yielding, is this correct? I have looked at many strains of AutoFlower and they look delicious. So I'd like to try them.

I believe Autos are genetically spliced with 20% ruderalis strain which is THC deficient. So whatever the strain it will not be as thc high in Auto as a photo period equivalent.

yup. i read they're good for outdoors in WA because our days are so long in the summer and you want them to start flowering early to beat the sunless and rainy falls we have

dude, im no expert grower, but ive smoked plenty in my time.

im just finishing up my first grow of auto's, and the sample im smoking right now is as good as anything ive swapped for cash, and its not properly dried and cured yet. Point being, the genetics in autos now, i believe, are as good or nearly as good as in photos.

they are much smaller. mine are around 60 - 75cm. not harvested yet, but expecting about 1 - 1.5 oz off each. low yeald per plant, but since they dont take up much space and only take 8/9 weeks from seed, its an ok payoff for me. Also, i can keep everything from seedling to flower in the same grow room under both red and blue lights.

Having grown both I can tell you that Auto's are nearly as potent if not the same as photoperiod, obviously its strain dependent. Nowadays Auto's smell nice, smoke nice and sit you on your ass for hours.

Thats cool how many hours of light do you give them?

18/6 or 20/4.
some growers suggest light times.

If you grow a Super Lemon Haze Auto and a reg SLH, the reg will be better.

I have had people tell me my auto SLH was better than some guy's reg SLH, but that was because I am a better grower and know how to cure properly.

I like autos and they definitely have their place, but I would not replace reg plants with autos.
I use autos were I can. I'll start some in early June outside and they are ready before August. Then I plant a couple more.
I did an auto seed crop in a shed. The shed got into the 90s, regular plants would not have survived.

The best thing about autos is that they have a different cannabinoid profile than regular plants.

Overall, auto strains have come a long way in the past 2 years alone as far as yields and potency go. But as with anything in life... it varies.

Many of the auto varieties of popular photoperiod strains I have tried come close, but they are different. Sometimes better sometimes not, but they have all been good!

10/08/12 - Haze Auto... A Haze, really? Not by the looks of it anyway, but it does have that unique scent...

The stability of the genetics has gotten much better, most strains produce fairly consistant phenotypes. I've had the same Northern Light Auto strain yield plants producing anywhere from just under 30 grams to larger 90+ gram plants.

I still think photoperiods are more efficient in the big scope of things, but when you want to go from seed to harvest in under 90 days (some under 80 days), autos are the only way to fly!

Typically, If I have room in the veg tent I will drop in an auto or two. It helps to keep things more perpetual...

I've grown all but one of the freebie auto's i got from attitude. While when growing i had a pointless high tolerance, auto's were nothing on a real photo strain. And by which i meka rel strain, not just some random bunk from a "breeder". I'm not saying there are not good auto strains from my experience, just that there are insurmountably better strains available if you pick the photo route.

But my personal opinion aside, unless you are growing outdoors, there is not a single positive reason for growing an auto over a photo. A well selected phoot will flower in the same time, for a fraction of the cost with regard to utilities, and also genetics, in that you can clone or seed etc, and offers you a ridiculous range of strains in comparisson to the good strains available for autos.

Why does it have to be an "either or" situation. Autos and non autos can be grown simultaneously, run a few autos in the veg room for a supplemental harvest.

If that was to happen then i'd need a filtration system in my veg room in which case i might as well just turn the veg room into 12/12 from seed. Plus my evg room did not have anything in the way of lighting that would yield anything worth my time. In my mind that kind of thing is swings and roundabouts, and was easier and cheaper for me just to keep the veg as veg and the flower as a 12/12 flower room. I say room, i mean cupboards.
