Auto flower light schedule

I have read in several places that 18/6 or 20/4 is the best light schedule for autos. Some also say 24 h is OK. But nobody has provided a rationale as to why autos need a dark period.....? Why is 18/6 better than 24?

Some say the plants process nutrients during the dark period, I dont know for certain, im not a botanist. I really dont think it makes much difference, i ran an autoberry under 24hr light and 1000ppm in hydro w/ a 300 watt chinese LED and the plant resulted in just over a 1/4lbs dry

i run 24/7 for 2 weeks veg then 20/4 through flowering

as 24/7 through flower reduces resin production, we all know that a c3 plant can grow in 24 hour light with no worries, but for the best out your bud 20/4 or 18/6 through flower, id say 20/4 but if u wanna save 2 hours electric then 18/6 is fine

I run all autos on 24-0. Ive done 18-6 and 20-4 but it seems to me that ladies grow faster and larger with 24-0. And ive never seen a decrease in resin production. But thats just my own philosophy. I now even run all my photos on 24-0 for veg.

I have been running 18/6 and I have noticed the plants seem tired (slightly droopy) going into hours 15-18 and after a 6 hour rest they are perked right back up

yeah mine on 20/4, they start to lower there leaves at about 18-19hours on, and get ready for lights out,

but dont let this fool you into thinking the plant is tired, the plant wouldn't do this if its original light schedule was 24/0 as it wouldn't think about rest at all, once its had a few days on a schedule with dark hours, they adapt to that and will prepare for sleep an hour or so before lights off

yea tired was just for descriptive purposes, I have no idea whats going on really :)

BTW I have them under 1000 watt HPS
