auto drip irrigation advice

looking to do some sort of auto drip system in my soil/pro mix blend. I"m thinking I need a basin, pump, and some sort of irrigation line system. does anybody have a setup they recommend? thanks.

There a many ways.

You look for a ready to go system?
Check the next gardening store.
You want a diy system? I am sure there are simple plans at youtube.

You just basically need tube, a couple of T or Y , a flow reducer, a Tank.
Pump is not needed when you use gravity by placing the Tank higher than your pots.

Dunno where you from but here they sell a watering system fully automatic for drip and other methods from Gardena. Pretty good and works for years.

Yeah I’m pretty confident I can diy something that will work halfway decent. It’s how I’ve gotten where I am so far lol. I guess I thought pump, so I could run it on a timer. I’m going out of town for a few days, but I’ve wanted to do this for a while, so it’s my motivation.

I used adjustable dripper heads like these. Three per 100 gallon pot in non terminating circle. The adjusting head makes it easy to even out the water distribution to 6 plants. I use an in line RO filter to a garden house down to 1/4 in line..

Got it. So it seems I might be looking for a resivoir, tubing, connectors, and possibly a halo for the plants? It would seem that that is more efficient than a single watering spot.

Check your local garden store or ebay. I found an irrigation kit for strawberries for a few quid. Could easy be adapted for a pump rather than a tap.
Just look at garden supplies rather than hydroponic shops.

Sedan uses those lines that go between an IV and your arm, it has the little drip adjuster built in.

I'm using blumats on six 30 gallon containers in the wide open California heat. One long carrot feeding inner and one shorter with 4 drippers in a semi circle. I got them dialed in right away but once the heat was riding 100 degrees every day and my plants began to drink a lot and had to kick them up a traingle or two. I also hand water in AACT every Monday night. Call Sustainable Village and they will design a system for you. Last year I ran a pump and adjustable drippers and everything was puppies and rainbows until my pump went out. I lost two of my six plants over one hot weekend.

Blumats are great, increase yield too but always need fine tuning and using them on a large scale would turn into a nightmare, at least thats my experience. Setting up a rainbird system, with a pump and timer this go around and i think it will be exactly what i need to make daily work into once or twice a week work.
