Hi guys although my first gro is no where near finished, I'm preparing for my next round.

What do you think is the best medium for an autoflower?.

I have grow in coco and it was superb, hardly anything went wrong.
The thing u liked about coco, is that is has absolutely no added nutrients, it's very noob-forgiving when it comes to feeding plants and also the dry-wet cycle was great.

However I noticed during the first month growth in coco was so slow and hardly any growth on top.

I was just wondering if I should go soil for this grow if so what would you recommend? I'm thinking of buying fox farm(I have a habit, when I buy something I want the bbest). Lol that's just me but I noticed the ocean forest has so much shxt stuffed in and I figured it's the one what you guys think. . .

Soil is most newb friendly but is also the best bug habitat. Coco is next easiest and has the advantage of being more controllable but is still a great bug habitat and now it's easier to screw up enough to really hurt them. Hydro is still pretty easy, but considered harder by some than the others, is most controllable and has the best potential outcome and is habitat for less of the common insect pests, but easiest to screw up big in too.

I think hydro is plenty easy and it's easy to avoid the mistakes, but no need to rush there if you aren't confident. If you are doing 2 or more plants I would encourage you to try both soil and coco, I would also encourage you to sprinkle Diatomacious Earth in your buckets before planting, and over the top of the soil/coco after planting. This will help prevent fungus gnats and other insects.

Hmm since coco is reusable and I won't be growing more than two plants I was thinking of buying soil as I can just reuse the coco?

You can reuse either, but risks come with reuse so you only want to reuse once and only if the first grow had no root or bug issues. There are also risks to getting new medium so one reuse is safe enough.

I've never used Coco, so my vote goes to Soil. Honestly I love soil, I know other methods can get as good or better results but I wouldn't give up the experience of working with soil, it just feels right.

I use FFOF or FFHF. Ive heard people say that FFOF is too hot for auto seedlings, not my plants, they fucking love it!

I'm currently starting a grow using hydro, soilless and happy frog to see what medium is best for autos. I just started the seeds this afternoon to see what type of results I will get. I'm thinking it is best to take advice from other growers but also try different mediums for yourself with their advice to see what works best for you

Sunshine mix #4 mixed 50/50 with kitty liter (unscented clay only)

You'll never look back :bigjoint:
Where do you purchase your unscented kitty litter? I know Walmart has Natural Kitty brand but they are not real close.

Lucky for you, fox farm is not available here, I have to order it on eBay or something for a real high price including shipping costs

What is the kitty litter used for?
Tis Calcined Clay, it adds sulfur much the same way Dolomite adds Mag and it retains moisture but not in a bad way Google "Al Taplas Gritty Mix" :)

Al is a regular garden guru, been usin his mix for years

Iv voted coco since I was well impressed,I know change isn't always the best but maybe I have even better success with soil, really tempted since I believe the crucial stage for autos is veg, which was extremely slow and leggy in the coco
