I just want to thank @Prawn Connery for spreading the word, but I know he will be relieved he doesn't have to field questions about our High Light boards any more. There was always more than one person behind this project, and so here I am to take over in an official capacity. We also have a new website that answers most your queries about how many boards to use, how to wire them, what drivers to use, how high to hang them, how many PPFD you can expect and when to choose one board over another.

Prawn is a long-standing member of RIU and I don't think he ever intended for us to make a business venture out of these boards, but there you go. Life's funny like that. He can now go back to being a normal member, and I will look after the business side of things.

Thanks for everyone's support over the past six months, and thanks to rollitup for allowing us to show off our little LED board project. It's time we gave something back, and so we're happy to be new sponsors and answer any questions in an "official" capacity. We'll continue to make these boards while people ask for them and you never know, we might have a few more tricks up our sleeves in the future

I haven't done any SEO on the website yet so Google isn't really picking it up. I wanted to ensure everything was working properly before we launched it. I'll be adding to it over the next few weeks as there is so much mis-information about LEDs I want to dispel.

Most of us on this thread allready know about these, but for future readers; maybe a big data dump? Efficiency spectrum and all looks good on the first page. Also interested in how much they are without aussie tax to get an idea of how much my taxman would sting me for.

Hi Rocket Soul, Aussie tax is 10% so you can take that off the price of all products. Then if you use the discount code FORUM you can take another 10% off. So that's 20% off all prices if you are overseas.

If you go to the website www.growlightsaustralia.com and click something for your Cart and then go to Checkout, as soon as you enter a shipping address that is outside Australia (you can use any address from any country that is not Australia) the Cart will update with the GST-free price. When you enter the discount code, it will update again. It will also automatically update your shipping cost. We use Australia Post which is cheap and reliable. At least it is cheaper than a courier and all our parcels are tracked and have so far arrived safely.

As you guys know, these are "true" full spectrum (400nm-800nm) boards that can be run at up to 225W each with a matching heatsink or up to 150W without (due to the large size board and wider LED spacing than other LED boards). Quite a few tests now have shown that two High Lights running at about 350-400W will replace a 600W HPS in terms of yield. A number of growers using our boards have already achieved this, with one in particular consistently yielding an average 22-24oz for each pair of boards running at 400W total. That's about 1.7 grams per watt for an 8 week strain.

I think you have seen these photos before but this is the grower I am talking about. He has 12 High Light boards and 4 Quantum Boards in this room in pairs. I think he has them paired to Mean Well 480 drivers but I know they only run at 200W per board. No heat issues at those wattages either. He can rest his hands on the heatsinks comfortably at any time.

Our boards work out about the same price or less than Quantum Boards when you take into account that ours are about 1.7x bigger with 450 LEDs versus 288 LEDs. If you are in Australia or New Zealand they will be cheaper, especially if you are also ordering heat sinks. Our heat sinks are also bigger and heavier.

Just to repeat, you only need to enter a shipping country outside Australia (you do not need to enter a full address) to remove the 10% GST at Checkout. You do not need to enter credit card details or anything else. Once you have entered a shipping country outside Australia at Checkout, this will be your default country and all prices will then be displayed without GST (less 10%).

Unfortunately there is no easier way to do this, as Australian buyers must pay GST and the shipping address determines when GST is applied and when it is not.

The RIU discount code can be entered in your Cart. There is no need to go to Checkout first.

“Australian buyers must pay gst” tell that to ebay took them long enough to implement gst into their system and then it’s only for imports.

It's swings and roundabouts. Aussie buyers don't pay local taxes on overseas products, but they get hit by the 10% GST when it arrives. We export tax-free, but sometimes there are taxes at the other end. The UK for example has VAT. We can work with buyers to try to reduce their end cost. Sometimes you get lucky and customs doesn't catch the parcel and you end up paying no tax (both ways).

No one likes paying tax so we're offering a 10% discount to help out.

Going vertical. Holes drilled out to accept 5mm screws.

A note to diyer's measurments are sae units 16 in centers like framing a house.

That's one of the features of these boards. There are "safe areas" on the board that are marked out by the black-lined boxes on the edges and circles in the middle. You can drill anywhere within those areas and you will not hit the copper trace or short the boards. It means you can also use any sized screw. As long as the screw head or washer falls inside the black lines, it is safe. We don't know of any other board that offers this feature.

When ordered with heatsinks, all High Light boards come with matching M3 x 6mm (3mm diameter x 6mm shank) mounting screws. But some DIYers may want to drill their own holes to mount to their own frames, and they can safely do this using the guidelines. You can pretty much drill anywhere on each side of the board (within the boxed area). The original drill holes are 4mm, and the safe areas are 9-10mm diameter.

Hey mate, how's the update?

We had an issue with the website not displaying the menu page on mobile devices making it very hard to navigate. That's been fixed now, so hopefully it didn't put too many people off.

We're also crawling our way up the Google rankings – up from 56th to 30th place now, LOL! I think it might take a little while until we're on the first page, but you can always click the link in my sig.

We've got some new products coming this year, so stay tuned.

XLG drivers offer a cheap solution for these boards. With the XLG-200-H-Ab, you can get them to 4amp at a relatively low cost and still get 93% efficiency out of the driver.

Heres a light distribution chart for a highlight UV board on a XLG-200-h-AB driver @4amp in a 80cm x 80cm area. This is a realistic replacement for a 315cmh in both PPF output and spectrum.

Of course you can raise it to 18" for better spread.
