Hi guys ive been growin over 15 years now but new to rollitup. I first started expanded clay but when coco came on the market ive never looked back to those old days using expanded clay {Hydroton} For those who use it still i highly recommend switching to it. No pumps , no res, just watering every 3 days for the whole cycle . No pump failers , not ph probs, no deficiencys , no disease, and better quality, better taste, and better yeild due to no stress to the plants . Just a bit of perlite on the bottom of your pot sox and a 10% mix of perlite to coco. Only one lot of nutrients to mix. No grow no flower nutes just coco a+b . No need for expensive additives or such. all you need is about $40 worth of nutes for the whole grow / flower process. OH AND A MUST ::::::: RUN TO WASTE you wont belive the results. Any questions , ideas , Tips just ask

Im waiting on new strains to arrive but will happily post all stages in pics over the next month. You can use a pump to feed them but like all hydro systems run to waste is best as salts get flushed out and not sent back into rest for the plant to suck up again therfore creating more stress. Im not Knocking expanded clay it is good but if ya want a less stressful less maintence setup coco is the way to go. Perlite is also a fantasic medium but it is best mixed as it isnt as stable for bigger plants

Less stress on roots increases nutrient uptake . I know some people might laugh but in coco there is no need to use a ppm meter . when u put your seedling/ clone in its 1600ppm the whole way thru. No changing ppm at all from seedling and rooted clone. To some this may sound strange but it is a tried and proven method for me

And the reason for the 10% pertile to coco is that perlite is the best at locking in oxygen when the water passes over it therefore creating the ideal rooting conditions

especial when useing a net to train plants . It causes the roots to dislodge due to pertlie being light.
hate to um dampen and stomp on your theory! ;), check my thread, grow no.2 one oz short of a pound, 1 plant, in 100% perlite, i top, train, and use 2 layers of netting, i have no problem with plant holding itself up, once the roots grab that perlite mate, they grab it like a $10 hooker on a dick, after harvest, i cant for the life of me pull my root system out, impossible, my stem is 1.5 inches thick at the base! honestly the netting is to hold buds up, and placement of heads, the trunk is extremely robust, and i also have it the other way around, hydroton on the bottom, just bout 2 inches to cover potsock holes. when i pull my pot sock out, i have roots coming out the bottom everywhere, and even going down into the return line tap ( i just twist it now and then and it cuts them, and they pass through into res

Thats great. Just me talking from experience. Ive tried every medium , mixed and unmixed and coco has given me the best . Not saying it doesnt work cause it does but i like less stressed less maintance and it works great for me. I run twin 600 cools with ac , co2, and odour sox. I use 50 litre pots with 10% perlite to coco.
Im not trying to say other mediums or sys suck or dont work ive just found them to be more stressful on the plants in general. Im glad you are getting awesome relsults. Plant looks filth. i wish you all success

But in saying that in my last post about stressing plants out alot of it comes down to how experienced the grower is in recircuilating systems. Not saying you are but If you were a first time grower that it would be easier to start off in coco than a recirc sys

Ive had amazing results in all mediums and systems . But in coco i can go away for a week if i soak the coco and not worry about resi's and pumps . Also im qld so keeping the res temp down can be a prob. Southern states wouldnot be as much of a issue with resi temp

i was taught by a pro who has grown for more than 20 years, and has never changed the way he grows, and yield 3 lb off 2 nearly everytime. hes a freak, i do it just like him, except my last grow suffered from heat stress, as i had no cooling and tent got 40 degrees some days.

in saying that coco may have been easier, i tend to disagree man,, soz, i seem like a know it all, (far from it) i flush every week without fail, test ph daily, and obsessively check everything all the time., i honestly couldn't think of an easier way, to me it seems fool proof. aslong as i flush regularly each week, i have plenty of fresh cyco nutes to refill each friday

i now freeze 2 litre blocks of ice every night to put in my evap cooler, and now temps are much more stable at around 31 degrees. much happier with this grows progress no.3

she's about to explode now, thanx for your kind words, sub up my grow no.3

Just found a male hermie :)... Thank you KC Brains... I had some KC-45's his first offering of Auto flowering plants... They grow quickly but I had to get rid of most of my plants when my first grow site got compromised, I kept two of the 45's and both turned out male, in an extremely low light new home, they both grew to about 2 1/2 feet tall, the quickest one to flower through out his pollen over about a 3 week period, he kept growing more sacs and then the top half of him died, he just stopped sending any nutrients up to the top half and one day it just fell off, now about a month later on his bottom half he has a few small mutant looking female flowers growing... The other male is still producing pollen sacs and doesn't look like stopping any time soon...

I don't know what the smoke is like or what the girls turn out like but if the male plants are any indication the females should be good producers, lots and lots of pollen sacs growing in large tight clusters... I'm gonna try to knock up the few little female flowers on the He/She with its brothers pollen...

sure will have a geez. Different ways work for different people . I know what your saying but i have to disagree about the easier thing as i dont flush dont check ph or ppm. i just mix up for every feed and check it before i feed. Coco is less checking of ppm , PH and less flushing . i only flush once a month. Only reason id say its easier for 1 st timers or even the expericenced grower is no need to check ppm,ph daily . Maybe i should use my words more carefully. Its maybe not more easier I probs should of said less maintence. But Kudos to you mate awesome lookin girl you got there keep up the awesome work
