Aussie Growers Thread

I grow dwc but am doing my 1st coco grow, am using straight coco, no perlite and feeding/watering roughly every 2 to 3 days. Growing chemdawg. I bought the coco from bunnings haha. But plants love it. No sign of overwatering or any deficiencies. Am quite surprised with coco actually. Thought it would grow more like soil than hydro tbh. (I suppose it is a soiless medium) ill take a photo of it when i get the chance. I just made sure i flushed it a few times with plain water before planting and adding ph'd, water/nute solution. Otherwise ive been told you can buy canna coco online? Meant to be good stuff and holds more oxygen for roots!?
What is the name of Coco you brought from Bunnings ? Do water weed plants every 3 days ?

Yep, about every 3 days. Watering frequency depends on a few things, mainly size of plant and how healthy it is, size of pot used, if mixed with something like perlite it will dry out faster and of course temp and humidity.
Here is the coco im using. Im sure theres better out there but its going great for me!! BRUNNINGS, FROM BUNNINGS haha.20190516_220225.jpg

Its the right stuff but depending on your situation this one works out a bit cheaper:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/brunnings-90l-coir-power-garden-soil-mulch-block_p2960146

You must flush it hard with tap, then once the run off comes out under 200ppm you are good to go. Add 2 cups of this to it:

https://www.bunnings.com.au/richgro-5kg-natural-dolomite-lime_p2985046

Mix well.

Now you have exactly what the hydro shops sell for $35 for 50L but at a quarter of the price. Be vigilant with the flush that is key. Happy growing :)

You need both. The dolomite lime buffers the coco. It costs fuck all and lasts forever you only need 2 cups per 90L block of coco. If you skip it you will get deficiencies.

Get a big container, drill holes in the bottom then run the hose through it til the run off is less than 200ppm.

If you are looking for easy and simple buy bagged, pre buffered coco.

So if I buy both, do I have to mix them or leave them separately to grow how does it work with soil I'm pretty lost myself honestly

Sorry man I was just answering your question on this page I thought you were trying to find cheap coco.

You dont need any soil if you wanna grow in coco it is an inert medium so you need to provide all the nutrients.

Anyway if you wanna grow in coco then you can either buy bags of coco from the hydro store and it is ready to go, or you can save a few bucks and buy from bunnings but you need to prep it first - you need to flush the salts out then add the dolomite lime to buffer it so you dont get deficiencies, mostly magnesium. Its simple but takes an hour or 2.

There are lots depending on where you are. Look on ebay. Or if you are close to any decent size town there would be hydro shops where you can pay cash.
