hi guys, hows the smoke? my girls copped some punisment from the heat over the last few days. heat wave is over. i was wondering if there was anything i could do to help them recover? a lot of leaf damage, curling and yellowing. i will try get some pics up soon. but it is definately heat related. do i do anything or just let them recover on thier own?

Ninj I'm on my phone so can't see pics but from reading it sounds like you're running a water pump instead of an air pump?

Making DWC systems is ma pleasuuuure, and it just ain't DWC without hard core aeration. If you wanna go hard then get yourself a chunky diaphragm pump and the biggest air stones you can find. I know it's safer using a water pump outside, but I just chopped up a 3L juice bottle to weatherproof my pump and am confident there won't be electrical dramas.

DWC is all about the o2, and although misters are necessary if your roots haven't hit the water yet, once they have thyre just a waste of power. True aeroponics as already stated requires tiny water droplets (50 microns?) as only then will the penetrate the plant. Any water drops bigger and it's just ebb n flow styles as the plants will absorb the fluids the regular way. Lots of bubbles is the key though a dual outlet aquarium pump with 2x15cm stones is fine in a 35L tub with 2 plants.

On another note I had all 4 wisdom removed yesterday. It was really not that bad, I wasn't even groggy when I woke up and they hurt no more than a punch to the jaw. I'm stayig at my mums though, bedside service
yo!

OMG, i just found a strain called Chocolate Chunk - supposedly if u lick ur lips after smoking a bowl you can actually taste the chocolate..
They say something similar about the Mango strain..
..I think ive found my next strain options :)

i saw some of that on planetskunk i think, was thinking about it but figured i could grow trainwreck and eat a freddo lol

oh god i just realised you featured in my dream last night lol how funny the heavily stoned mind can be!

eighty - mine suffered quite a bit when we had an unexpected heat wave back in november, not much you can eh - i picked up an evaporative cooler after that, it was less than a hundred dollars and true you have to maintain it with cool water but it's brilliant in the heat if yer in veg/seedling stage coz the humidity goes nuts! if you consider that tho remember hydrogen peroxide in very small doses is our friend lol mould is not

Oh oh and Ninj, I'm not saying that the people growing outside with open roots are bs, but the vast majority if people who have not had opaque containers and who have had res issues have fixed them by blackin out the res. Bunnings VIC currently have sterilite containers for sale which are PERFECT for DWC as they're opaque with flat lids and are deep. Either that or spraypaint your res with a couple coats of black and a white finish

Yeah the heat is a bitch. My overgrown stretchy Bubblegums were all fucked up as they were transplanted outside right when the heat was starting. Bah

You know what really sux? We were sitting here last night at bloody 10.30pm is was still 26 degrees outside and I went into the tent to see what temp it was, and because of my air conditioner, it was bloody beautiful... A balmy 25 degress with a cool breeze...

I have a reverse cycle air conditioner in my house, that I can't use at the moment so I don't cause an unnecessary power spike, as my room is drawing nearly 2000 watts on its own....

That's the world I live in, my plants get all the air conditioning and climate control they need, while my hubby and I are sweating our arses off....lol....

3 of my seedlings perished over the heatwave :( only got 1 left now, better be female!
hey adl, sorry for your loss. i have 2 clones and a bagseed seedling going and they are in less than desirable conditions, next to no air flow and shitty fluros, and they didnt suffer at all. i dont understand. if anything they liked it.

now that this heat is over for now i am going to put my young ones under a 400watt hps i am borrowing from a friend. they have been slow vegging under 87watts of t-8 fluros for a month now and i want them to veg under the 400 for 4 weeks before flower.
4 weeks flowering for my first grow tomorrow. res change and photo shoot. will post pics tomorrow.

hey lacey, i know exactly what you mean. my plants have the only cooler in the house.
i am trying to find somewhere to setup this 400 hps that i am getting but i am struggling to find a spot.
how are the seedlings going? thats awesome that they all popped and sprouted so quickly. the crosses look like beasts. lets hope they are going to go really good.

i transplanted one white widow outside ages ago, it was the one survivor of the dampening that took out my whole prop full of seedlings. she is a frickin monster, she has been through heat, storms cold all sorts and she's going hard lol
