Hello,
This is my Australian LED and HPS grow journal. The grow will be a 15 pot Sea of Green type grow.
I have a new digital camera also so this will be sweet!
Two lights will be used, First my 195w actual draw LED light, which has 2 blues, 2 reds, cool and warm white, orange and UV. The second is a Magnetic Growlush ballast, with an "Indoor Sun" HPS bulb at 600 watts. (I may procure an adjusted spectrum Growlush bulb before flower, they work really well in my experience, they're a more of a true white HPS you can use for vegetative cycle also for a higher lumen count.)
The soil is a mix of pre-made compost, potting soil, some decomposed food scraps in there, and some sand and ash I obtained from a remote location in the bush where a tree had burned to a stump, so there's some silica and a good amount of ash through the soil slightly.
The pots are around 1 Liter each, and due to myself having regular seed... I will get a less than half female plant rate. I used these seeds once and got one female from five plants. I will be happy with a 1/3 of 15 plants female rate. If I get that I will consider it a good grow.
The strain is a modern variety, with large buds which spread well and look leafy, as opposed to tightly packed hairy weed, which I don't like. I bought a garbage bag filled with a half moldy seeded plant and smoked what wasn't moldy, and collected all the seeds so this will be my mainstay regular seed for a while until shit is legal in Australia. It's a modern medium grade strain, which I will be improving the strength of via...
Fertilizers to be used:
1: "Thrive, all purpose" supermarket sold N/P/K with small trace levels.
2: Trace elements fertilizer purchased from hardware store, has a lot of calcium.
3: Epsom salts for magnesium.
4: Leonardite coal tar, up to 90% humic acid.
5: SUPERthrive vitamin and hormone tonic since 1940 A.D.
6: Canna P/K.
7: Organic seaweed powder, contains 16% potassium.
I use a grow-tent setup that is 1.2 meters / 1.2 meters / 2 meters, a Carbon filter attached to a 2 speed fan, which operates around 450 CFM - 510 CFM, it has two settings. Will be on constantly.
I have also for this grow a usage meter. Vegetative stage power draw I can tell you is between 270-280 watts continuous. I am going for 15 hour days and have a digital timer. I like to let the plants rest at night and save on bills.
There is a potential to have a small passive ozone generator in the room, and also I use 9 hour candles during the day time for carbon dioxide. I find these effective and cheap, just light a candle for Jesus in the morning
