hello good people.
Do your flood n drainers grow too mental? do they struggle to get settled in their plastic tubs of pebbles????
I have been looking at different ways to
1) stop my plants from going mental and 2)help my plants develop stronger root systems and i have found something that does both very very well indeed so i felt i had to share the information....
i bought some of that pvc ant slip matting, rinsed it off and put a layer in one of the tubs. a week into vegging i decided to consolidate my 3 hps to 2 and transplanted the one russian(the one in the tub with the mat) to one of my other 2 trays. After only a week i had to spend 5 mins hacking the mat to get the plant out as seriously it had welded itself to the matting like you wouldnt believe. I was able to cut a good apron of matting around the plant to aid support in its new home and now its happy as larry..
i had been watching the root growth daily in all of the tubs and as much as you could see loads of roots in the tubs without the mat, you couldnt see many in the one with the mat; seems like the plant had spent all its energy welding itself to it; gutted there are no mats in the other two tubs, will be throwing two or three layers into EVERY one of my tubs in the future. The plant that grew with the mat didnt stretch at all and was well stocky.
PVC anti slp mat is available by the metre from any good fabric store...
