Attaching Fan/Filter?

Hi Guys,
ive just got a temp control Ruck fan and Rhino filter.When you attached the two,is it best to use a small piece of Ducting? Or can they just slip together without it?

You can do it either way.

The least distance the air has to travel the better, so just attaching it straight to the fan would be most efficient.

I heard it's better to have some ducting in between the fan and charcoal filter so the charcoal don't settle from the vibration of the fan. Just a thought.

That makes no sense.

hey i dont wanna steal this thread but im gettin a carbon filter kit with my fan and i was wondering if i would need a bigger fan for power... as it would go ( inline fan outside of tent ) to the ducting through tent more ducting to HID cooltube and then ducting to the carbon filter?? is this how the normal setup is and would work perfect?

What? All you need is a carbon filter and an inline fan. Pull air through the filter inside the tent, have it blow over the light and out the tent.

You can but why? Just leave the fan in the tent. The further away the fan is the more cfm you'll lose.

i have heard this as awell, im not sure the valditiy of the statement but if you think about it it sort of rings true, reason being is when the fan is on the vibration will eventually settle the carbon from the top of the filter down, but assuming u have a well built filter i dont see this bein the case and the less air flow restriction the better, i personally use ducting in between but thats bevcause of space issues, otherwise would i ? probably not..

so where and how to i place the inline inside the tent and have the cooltube and carbon hooked up? this confuses the shit outta me does the top of a tent have all the bars to support and run it all? i always seen and thought it was on the outside, thanks for the 2 cents here i been so curious

My tent is really small. 20"x36"x60" All tents should come with bars and hangers for everything. This is a lighthouse hydro tent from gotham hydroponics on ebay. Highly recommend.

wow okay now im starting to understand better, visual is always best now is the fan have ducting on one side going to the outside? and is the ducting all one line and one connection? how many duct holes are you using to make this work? sorry for all the questions this is where im going into in a week and im hapy i have someone to help thank you

This is how it's setup with the exception that the inline fan is now before the light not after. The fan sucks air in from an intake hole at the bottom, into the filter then blows cool filtered air over the hot light and it is exhausted outside the tent. Best, most efficient way to do it. Inline fans are rather powerful.
