It is like shooting dice. You hear stories about people planting 12 seeds and 2 are female and also hear about the lucky one that gets 10 females. I used feminised sees when I was ready to pay for good genetics. So far all females for cloning. If you are using non-feminised seeds you take your chances and sort them out later.

Are you using bagseed?

There is some Russian study that has been going around claiming if you provide a seed at least 4" to grow a taproot unobstructed, the ratio of females to male becomes something like 4:1. On my first grow I got 3 females from a crop of 11 seeds...using 16oz beer cups to germinate in. I tried a second experimental batch and from that I managed 9 females out of 13 seeds...this time using 24oz clear plastic cups that are taller than the standard blue and red ones. There is really no way of knowing what caused this dramatic swing...but the deeper cups clearly didn't hurt.

Anyway, your best bet is to get at least one female and take cuttings (clones) from it. Or get feminized seeds.

You don't need a lot of room to sex plants.
Once they're sexed, then you need room.
Better to (if you have the room)
grow 2 females.
Always have a backup plan...t
