1000 years ago any political issue quickly descended into war.
A couple hundred years ago we still fought a lot, but diplomacy was developed.
Now, there are sparse wars. Most of the recent wars were accidental. Vietnam wasn't planned, it just happened. Iraq wasn't intended to be much of anything.
Evolution is preventing massive wars.

That seems like a stupid statement. You are somehow trying to equate not owning weapons to not having the knowledge to make them. Ok
Why not go for a grenade then? Chuck one or two down the stairs at the intruder and that's as efficient a defense method as there is gonna be. We don't need guns because we have plenty of methods that are as efficient as it needs to be. Americans always go on about how they have to have guns because otherwise they will get shot instead. It's a circle. You need guns because you've let the bad guys obtain them without breaking a sweat. Here, the bad guys rarely ever have guns, and history has rather taught us that if the bad guy does not have a gun, then there is no need for the home owner to have a gun. We are intelligent enough to know that we don't need guns.

What methods do you have for the elderly to more efficiently and effectively defend themselves than personal firearms? What about the disabled? Does a 100 pound woman have to fight it out with her fists "like a man" to defend herself?
And ignorant non-Americans don't understand the fact that the overwhelming majority of firearms owned here in the states are used for lawful NON-DEFENSIVE purposes, and are used safely EVERY single day.
Good. STAY there.
Here, we're intelligent enough to recognize the fact that there are bad people in this world, and the most efficient and effective way to keep those people at bay is with a firearm.
