Arizona just legalized marijuana

Thats the way the bill reads. Very strange.. although it doesn't actually define 'possess' either.

Then under penalties/violations it mandates that up to 2.5oz must be only a petty crime but doesn't list what occurs after 2.5oz.

Edit: also, up to 12 plants per household. Lol.
Right 6 per adult 21 and over not exceeding 12 plants yada yada yada..I'm gonna be growing 6 monsters myself .

I was asking myself the same question: How can I grow 6 plants but yet only be allowed to possess 1 ounce??? It makes no friggin sense!
So I was looking at "Arizona Laws & Penalties" under NORML's State Laws page, and there it says under Penalty Details:
"Manufacture/Cultivation

Voters in Arizona passed Prop 207, a statewide ballot initiative legalizing the possession, use, and commercial sale of marijuana for adults. Adults may cultivate up to six plants for non-commercial purposes in a private residence. The law took effect on November 30, 2020.

Producing 6 plants and up to 2 pounds of marijuana is a Class 5 felony, punishable by a minimum sentence of 6 months, a maximum sentence of 2.5 years, and a minimum fine of $1000 or a fine to exhaust the proceeds of the drug offense. If probation is granted after conviction for this offense, the offender will face a mandatory sentence of 240 hours of community service.

Producing between 2-4 pounds of marijuana is a Class 4 felony, punishable by a minimum sentence of 1 year, a maximum sentence of 3.75 years, and a minimum fine of $1000 or a fine to exhaust the proceeds of the drug offense.

Producing more than 4 pounds of marijuana is a Class 3 felony, punishable by a minimum sentence of 2 years, a maximum sentence of 8.75 years, and a minimum fine of $1000 or a fine to exhaust the proceeds of the drug offense."

So... WTF? The way the proposition reads is confusing enough, but after reading this penalty info, it reads like I am allowed to grow up to 6 plants but I am not allowed to possess more than 1 ounce of weed. So what happens when I harvest? Even if I grow one single plant, I can get almost a pound of weed, so now it's a felony to harvest it. That's ridiculous!

Does anyone have any better insight on this? What am I missing?

TIA.

Thats the way I read it as well. Legally prohibitive to growing, only way to be "legal" is to have a ton of friends help you trim and immediately give it away.....? But then who spends months growing for an oz.

Bill does nothing but pad the pockets of those who got lucky enough to draw a dispensary license.

Yea, you'd have to be pretty bad at growing to only get an oz. Or just go straight to flower maybe? Lol. Color me disappointed anyway.
if you have been growing for any amount of time...and you have kept you're mouth shut..and haven't been busted yet.. don't change anything it's worked so far

Just watched the certification live and to celebrate I vaped some Hazelnut Cream....what a lame formality to make us wait for. The SOS signs a bunch of doc's and passes them around table to Ducey.......still it's done! I was just thinking....I'll bet I'm still paranoid when I'm trimming a grow and the whole house reeks and wonder if the neighbors are gonna smell it. And where am I gonna dump all those leaves and stems without someone smelling that? Now it's time to let go of that trash in my head and enjoy my favorite passion....
Lol I used to covertly dump my plant waste at valley metro trash cans

Sure, it's legal. But you can't rent an apartment in the state without signing a waiver saying you won't possess it on the grounds, even if you have a medical card. Such waivers will cite federal law and promise eviction to anyone who defies them.

Way I see it is this means if your neighbor is a busybody and smells smoke or growing plants they'll rat you out and management will then kick you out.

And I agree about the "possession limit" and the fact they allow you to grow six plants. I got a quarter pound from two plants in my very first attempt at a grow in a 2x2 tent, you'd have to be harvesting six dwarves to be under an ounce.
