Me and a fellow grower are having a little argument over grow pots.
We both flood and drain.I use mesh net pots which i like alot and he uses standard square pots with only a few holes in bottom.
My roots fly out the bottom(6 inch round) and he says that is not good.My roots turn a little brown from my bat guano and he says they are not taking up nutes. He said cut the roots off the bottom and i said he was fuckin nuts. That will stress them.I know its not good for the roots to see light, and they should be white. Is he right about them getting no nutes. The plants kick ass though.should i use mesh or standard pots for my flood and drain. All comments welcome. Thanks

There are several misconceptions here. I trim my roots when needed. I use Air Pots + lava rock.

My way of looking at most things growing related, is that if the plant looks nice and healthy, then don't change things. If you think that you'll get a bigger yield by doing XYZ then certainly experiment, don't change something just because someone sais to though, if it's green and healthy, it's a happy plant. Growing cannabis does not need this precision and perfection that people seem to think is required. You can grow the thing a 1001 different ways and they'll all work :)

I love it discourse on growing methods, ha ha, roots should be white, were they before the Bat crap? As Tip Top said let the plant be your guide. Harvest is where arguments are settled, next time both yas grow the same strain and compare after harvest, a grow off so to speak. Throw down!!

Thank you all! I think they are doing fine.I will leave well enough alone.Speaking of a grow off we are doing the same grow next round. At the moment i am doing the seedling grow for both of us this time,6 World of seeds Afghan Kush.Giving him 2 for mothers. Will be nice to have all the same short plants for once.
