no, you need an hps ballast.you have no choice in the matter.

i lucked up and got 6 150hps street lights from lowes clearence 8.50 each so been playing with them but you can get 70's new for 40 100's for 55 strip them down make them remote ballast easily theyed pay for them selves in yeid vs. cfl's also the small bulbs are cool when ran remote i got a 10"x 12" x26" speaker with a 40 dollar 70 hps i grow 4 deisel/mi5 ryder seeds from a cross i did once i can usaully pull an ounce or better and with the ballast in the light trap i can keep bulb within 4"s with out burn
