Yes, CFLs come in SPIRAL and TUBE TYPE. Those are only 21 watts in your pic, so you need a lot of them.

CFL's emit different spectrums of lights. For vegetative growth you want a blue spectrum at 6500k or what are commonly called daylight bulbs. What you most likely have there are soft white cfls which have a color spectrum of around 5000k-4000k. These are not necessarily worthless but definitely less effective. Especially considering you have small bulbs and should probably use three per plant even if you had the right spectrum. If you're flowering you want warm white cfls with a colr temp between 3500k-2000k, generally around 3000k. At the top of the General growing is a sticky all about lighting. Read before you ask questions. Three seconds of this or five minutes on the FAQ would have prevented you from needing to ask a question which is very readily answerable with just a little time looking.

Here is the link. i cant find nothing about soft white or daylights bulbs on the site or on the box??

How old are your plants?? if there seeldings then you can get away with low wattage say 2 per plant for a week wont hurt, breaks your seedlings in for the 400watter, when times where bad for me (didnt have the full set up) i had to go with 2 20 watt cfls for a week on 1 plant and it was fine, Make sure you got plenty of reflection to help. Just remeber 6500k daylight for veg, and warm white 2700k flower, you can tell the difference warm white give off a redishy colour, daylight/softwhite is a bright white more bluey. This 400watter what is it hps? (( i was the first one to give you the answer o yer))

2 of them are 2 days old and the other 2 just potted today, I was supposto of had my 400w hps today but something wrong with credit card so i had to resort to these lights and since it says 'absaloutly' nothing about cfl on the box i really wanted to make sure if they were cfl's so even if i did look at the charts or that it would not have helped me in the slightest so i made a thread. Thanks for the help tho and i have only 3 on 4 plants at the moment but i am setting up more tonight and will have 6 on them then. That is the most i can afford so it will have ta do. I have broke the bank with this... Im litrally screwed for money

I'd get at least 5 of those particular bulbs per plant, but you'd do better getting higher watt soft-white for flowering and a couple higher watt daylight for vegging, I'd try for at least 100 watts of CFL power per plant. 150 when flowering

Oh god them lights cost 10 euro each.. I think i might just let 2 of my plants go or just keep them going on 3 lights per 2 plants.. That is the best i can do for them i have no other options

1 per plant will be fine...I FLOWERED my first lot on 2 20watt and 1 23watt under what was basically a reflective shelf in the cupboard - got a decent amount off them!

Well they are in a wooden box and the whole box i painted matte white. nothing at the top of the box other than the lights and the wall is painted aswell for when they get bigger and into bigger pots. also i will put up 2 big planks of wood on the sides so no light really escapes..
