Are my plants too crowded? First grow, flowering in 4 days.

Hi fellow growers, this is my first grow and I want to make sure I'm doing everything right. I'm a little concerned that my plants may be too crowded since they haven't been flowered yet but they are a short indica strain( grand daddy purple).I just lollipoped them so I'm pretty sure they have good ventilation underneath. They are currently 4 weeks in veg and are 17-18 inches tall. Please let me know if they look healthy and if I'm going to have problems with being too crowded, thanks in advance.

Hey steve! For a first grow u are doing excellent! I wouldn't say they're too crowded, and it sounds like u have done your homework as far as ventilation. Keep at it, and post updates if u can. Good luck!!

Thank you for the compliments, that makes me feel good coming from an experienced grower ya I've been researching and planning for a long time so hopefully everything goes well and I will post updates when I'm in the flowering cycle.

I'd be thinking about initiating flower and doing a leaf strip to open up the interior. Like I said-Sea O Buds
Ya I'm going to flower them in 3 days, I figured they need some time to recover from lollopoping them 2 days ago but they seem to be doing great from it. What do you mean by leaf strip, like removing all the leaves or something?

I have a 4x8 tent but I have a portable ac, fans, etc taking up the other half of the tent so they have a 4x4 space. They are in 5 gallon fabric pots and I have 9 of them. They are feminized seeds so I dont have to worry about males.

Very nice! It will be packed for sure but I think you'll be good as long as you have plenty of air flow. Both cooling the light and maybe a couple clip fans to keep air moving over the canopy. The best problem to have in growing is your plants getting bigger than you expected lol.

Yep today is flower day, they are getting 36 hours of darkness which works out perfect with the heat wave were having in cali. I'm going to leave the metal halide on with the led for 2 weeks before switching to hps to prevent stretch.

You should have flowered them long ago.

now your problem will be over crowded plants, you will have to cut some branches to dilute them,
and also alot of leaves.
for now, striping them is agood idea to slow them a bit

Ya they are even bigger now. I just turned on the lights today after 36 hours of darkness and I couldn't believe how much bigger they got. I mean they look great but your right they are really crowded and I also worry about height. The biggest one is 21 inches and the average is about 18-19 inches. I just hope I don't run out of height. The reason I waited so long is because people said for GDP you want to wait until they are 18 inches to flower or you will be disappointed. So should I strip the top fan leaves along with the bottoms as well? When you mean cut branches you mean the ones that aren't getting light yet right? I would really hate to cut the top colas. I have a 4x8 tent but I'm only using 4x4 of it because of fans etc. on the other side but I do have a good 2 feet to the right that I could use to spread them out, I was just worried that I wouldnt get good light coverage there. I have a 1000 watt mh/hps and a 2000 watt king plus led and I have another one that I was going to add later. So do you think I would get enough light coverage for like a 5x5 or 6x6 area with that? I added new pics of the plants that I took today and I couldn't believe it but they're already starting to flower there are little white hairs coming up, is that normal for them to flower so quick?anyways thanks for all the advice!20180809_090211.jpg

If i understand you corectly, you have planty of light available to cover the 4'x8' tent.
so if you can, why not use it? the more you grow, etc...

if you don't spread them, you must do something to stop them. 36 hour darknes is a good idea, but not enough.
to cut branches, i mean, you don't want a forest of spageti sticks towering towardes the light.
so you have to choose which of the branches is going to be your future colas, and remove small branches that "has no future"
don't cut your future colas!
by taking leaves, i mean defoliation. to stop them from growing, and to expose bud sites to light.
you can read more here - (don't be scare to cut them)
