Are high CBD strains for real?

I'm a medical user and I'm looking into growing a couple of high CBD strains. While researching strains it dawned on me that the old problem of multiple phenos probably affects CBD strains as well. I'm wondering how confident I can be that if I grow a high CBD strain I'll actually get high CBD since I have no way to measure it.

For example, CBD Crew Sweet and Sour Widow is listed as a White Widow strain bred by Resin Seeds for 1:1 THC:CBD production. SeedFinder.com lists S&S Widow at 5% THC, 5% CBD.

As far as I can tell there is no standard White Widow. Seedsman Seeds describes their White Widow as 'mostly sativa', while Dutch Passion describes their White Widow as 'indica dominant'. Every breeder lists different THC:CBD percentages for their White Widow. I counted 46 different White Widow strains on Herbies site, most with different percentages.

So, there are multiple genotypes and multiple phenotypes for White Widow depending on the breeder. Add to this the normal multiple phenotypes for virtually all seed grown strains and you get a genetic hodge podge that seems to me to be completely unpredictable.

My question, are high CBD stains for real? Can you actually expect all seeds to produce plants that have the THC:CBD ratios stated by the breeder?

I'd like to hear from anyone who has grown and used a high CBD strain.

You are right, still gotta find the pheno but yes they are real, I have grown the Harlequin 12% CBD 1% THC and the smoke taste awesome but does not get you high, great for pain relief though

Sweet and Sour Widow is actually bred by CBD Crew and the Widow comes from Mr. Nice. Shantibaba/Mr. Nice and Resin Seeds both make up CBD Crew what they do is cross to a high CBD plant probably more than one. Not sure exactly how they work it but they test test test and send out testers that get tested from what I've seen they do breed true for the high CBD like they claim not always a 1:1 though to get the perfect numbers for yourself it will still take selection. No need to test really just which helps your needs the best.

One way you know you got some good high cbd. After 1 or 2 hits your mouth and partially your face goes numb for a minute or 2 like some good Pure Peruvian . Any muscle pain at the time goes away instantly. If you smoke a high cbd strain then a high thc strain back to back then you will get high as fuck.

Finding a good stable cbd strain is a bitch. Most are unstable. It takes a lot of trial and error to find the right one. I've ran so many. I'm finally and currently running ac/dc. It was hard to get a legit cut. So we'll see with that. Prior, every cbd strain I've ran has some issue or 2. But a friend is currently flowering the same cbd cuts I got. They seem to be doing really well.

The study done said to wait 30 min between smokin the 2 ie: smoke high CBD, wait 30 min, smoke high THC. The study goes on to say it will increase the intensity of the high by 2 to 4 times

I have done this (several times) and it works !!!!

I've just done it back to back before bed or after a long day of physical labor. It was like getting high when I was 16 years old all over again.

Your have described the situation that has me confused. If they already have a high CBD strain why cross with White Widow or anything else? Why call it 'White Widow' when White Widow is not a single homogeneous strain but a collection of somewhat similar plants offered by different breeders?

I think some of it is marketing but also giving people different flavors. They also have around 20 different breeders getting CBD Crew to enrich strains for them. I'm also pretty sure I read they were working on something with really high CBD to THC.

I really don't know much about how they are working. I can imagine that they would not sell the strains used for CBD enrichment because we all know what happened with Skunk#1 and White Widow.

But if you want real answers about CBD Crew you can always join Mr. Nice forum and PM Shantibaba or even email CBD Crew if their site has an email address. Also there are a lot more people who know about CBD Crew at the Mr. Nice forum including test grows.

I tried CBD Crew Yummy myself and while it was one of the best smelling and tasting plants I've had I just did not care for the high my mother even has MS but she also prefers the dank high THC buds so I didn't get into high CBD like some.

Interesting. IME it was a mild high compared to the high THC.

Studies say that they are "real"....but I'm a long-time smoker and if I can't feel myself getting high from smoking, then I'm just smoking for the sake of going through the motions of smoking.

I have dabbed some Harlequin and a few other high CBD oils and I got more of a change in my overall feeling. The oil tasted like the old cherry Luden's cough drops -actually very tasty and unique insofar as terpene profile....but, as I say, the flower left me unsatisfied.

with gas chromatography I had a pennywise (TGA) testing at roughly 12-15% THC CBD 1:1 ratio and Respect (reggae seeds) testing at around 8% THC - CBD, compared with other plants on the same test plate that were strictly THC and showed only THC. CBD strains are no joke, buy from a reputable breeder. Also I had a pennywise that did not have CBD and on their website it did say that 25% of pheno would not have significant amount of CBD. Anyway all of this testing was a long time ago, I can't afford the kits or the time to use them for now but I can kinda tell when one of my cross is higher in CBD, coze I know what CBD feels like now.

I am finding the same thing, some people (mostly people I know with MS) that you think would benefits from high CBD strains actually prefer the high THC stuff, not only for pain management but lifestyle as well.
