Applying Molasses

Hello RIU,

Been looking around the forum for molasses threads or stickys and couldn't find anything good. I want to flush with molasses, and was wondering how many teaspoons i should use per gallon? Also how is it put in the water? Just dump it in? Melt it with warm water then put it in?

Thanks RIU

What I have done in the passed was fill a jug full of warm water and pour molasses into the water for 4 seconds then stir it "till the water was about as warm as the milk in a babies bottle. I've always loved using molasses and unlike most things you can add it even 3 hours before harvest(though I wouldn't recommend it as I always like the dirt to be as dry as possible at harvest to help with drying times).
Also never add it to hydro :p

im planning on flushing with the molasses, then letting the plant sit in the dark for two days before they get chopped. so hopefully they will be pretty dry by then. thanks for the reply.

warm the molasses by putting the jar in hot water and put in warm water, it will mix easier

I just fill a jug with hot water and take a tablespoon of molasses and stir the shit out of it then pour into watering can of cold water or if using bottles syringe it into the individual 2litre bottles for easy transport

Molasses is thick syrup by product from the processing of the sugarcane or sugar beet into sugar.

Molasses can be used throughout the whole flowering stage. Some grower prefer to only use molasses during the last 3 weeks.

The ratio per gallon is 1-2 tablespoons, but can be changed due to certain conditions.

Molasses can be used for soil and hydro.

In an experiment Jorge Cervantes had done "the buds swell about 20% when sugar is added to irrigation water during the last four weeks of flowering".

Over-applying molasses will not make buds swell any more, and if over-applied could bring insects to your garden.

The strains I have grown usually put on most of the bud weight in the last three weeks or so, generally the last week I'm waiting for calyxes to go to correct colour for my liking. And the only thing I've noticed with using "to much" molasses is that the buds were so resin filled my first thoughts were molasses was coming out of my buds :p
Bugs do seem to find there way in to any soil grow somehow but leaving chili peppers will detour those little bastards from eating everything.
Worst problem I ever had with bugs was when I grew BC Gold from BC Bud Depot, the bud got so sticky these little flies got stuck to it and died! Getting them off was a pain in the as*!
gimme a sec I'll tell you the strain genetics because that was some of the best non fruit tasting bud I've ever smoked!

BC Gold from BC Bud Depot is a cross between Afghani x Santa Marta Colombian Gold. Great high as well, definately a plant anyone can grow and love!

Ive heard to always try and get unsulphured mollasses thats all organic. but ive never seen granule molasses before, would seem hard to dissolve without alot of heat.

What you have is just good brown sugar...you must be in Europe? The treacle is very close to molasses...if you are in europe...it is probably the closest to Molasses...it is more refined.

Look in the syrup isle at the store...next to the corn syrup.

Sugar is pretty much sugar, the molasses adds some micros and has a NPK value...though the published values vary.

Plants do not uptake sugar molecules...but it feeds the soil organisms.
