Apollo Series LED panels from Cidly

Well I've two quotes so far, but I'm not done working up what lights I want. Customized Apollo 6 is $175 + shipping (no quote), Bysen SPD111D-210W is $260 + $125 shipping. So comparing unit to unit, Cidly is $85 cheaper. Decisions, decisions...I might just say fuck it and buy two Hans Panels instead! But all of this research makes me want to stay custom.

I was looking at some DIY ideas on an aquarium forum. I was trying to figure out the best way to put things together, sourcing heatsinks and all, and saw some pretty easy frames put together with just 1.5" heatsink material and aluminum angle. Might be worth a try. How good is the thermal adhesive? Not really looking forward to any drilling and tapping.

For my 1.2mx1.2m tent cidly recommends 2 Apollo 4 lights spectrum 660:630:460:430:2800
total cost $250 for both lights + $99 shipping = 349 total cost can anyone confirm 2 Apollo 4s and that spectrum will be good for my tent size?

Wow really I was going to use to Apollo 10s alongside my blackstar 500 w in a 1.2 x1.2

i wonder if that's overkill or will just make em grow nuts !!!!

Sure you gave the Cidly person the right dimensions? 2 Apollo 4 panels would be OK for 1.2 ft x 1.2 ft, but not 1.2m^2. My tent is half the size of yours and I will have 2 panels in it, one either and Apollo 6 or Bysen SPD111D-210W.

Not sure about anyone else lately, but Cidly is telling me all they have is 120 degree lens, I can't get 90s. Not sure if I will get the penetration I want with 120.

yeah sing told me they ran out of 60 degrees but will get them in soon . I was wondering too if I should run all 90s but thinking if I'm running two Apollo 10s with the 500w blackstar my coverage wouldn't be a problem for that area so maybe run 60s ? What do you guys rekn? Ill update my led config soon too just to see your thoughts .
ive seen a lot of you guys buying a lot of the aquarium model lights and running a lot of whites with red . Sing didn't seem to be sold on the idea when I mentioned it to him. Any of you guys know groblu's configuration and what lenses on what diodes?

Iv'e had my apollo 8 running for a week or so. yeah, two of these... in a 1.2sq tent -at least.
Iv'e over-watered then gave my leaves a suntan trying to boost the transpiration... I'm running on 90 degree lenses. Brightness doesn't mean a lot but outlines the strong even light footprint. !t really isn't far from the size of the box, you'll be wanting extra light once those big buds enter the dim zone.
4 apollo 4's might be better, i'm sure four hans panels or a couple of US lights would be better again. I'd imagine, light intensity wize, it would take two apollo 8's... almost 600w.... to replace my 600w hid.. Early days but just sayin'

Yeah they just said the only got 120 degree lens so I would need 4 Apollo 4 lights instead of 2

People can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that any lens angle >90 is a waste. You already lose some efficiency using the lens, so 120 degrees with a lens is probably not even as good as no lens at all.

120 degree - larger foot print.
90 degree - more intensity

I wouldn't go lower than 80 degree and no higher than 90 degree.

No lenses has the most intensity. Higher spectral output. Hans panel doesn't have lenses.

^^ It does have a type of reflector around each LED though. Now I would like to able to find something similar...

So you rekn 90s would be the go for. Two Apollo 12s side by side would that give wicked coverage and penetration . Gonna order my apollos very soon . And want em to kick ass trying to get this spectrum dialled in

Since they are 15 piece clusters and the LEDs are all driven at the same current, this tool will probably give you a decent representation of spectrum: http://buildmyled.com/custom-led-strip/ . Not quite as accurate when speccing Crees and the like though!

It's $65 to ship apollo 6 to FL.

The price on the aquarium apollo 6 is $170. The regular apollo 6 is $175. $5 cheaper but you can run alot more whites.

I can say the Apollo 10 stays cool enough to touch, however they create a lot of ambient heat....
COMAPARISON 1- 400 watt hps with cool tube vented outside...ambient room temp 75...3x4 tent 80 degrees.....
..............VS......
2 apollo 10's with extra 240cfm blower vented outside, raise the tent to 88 degrees and the ambient room to 80......room is insulated, with a/c, size of 2 car garage....trying to figure out how to cool more efficiently...I can also say the 400 watt hps is only good enough for 1 plant and just the canopy...could not penetrate...could be the brand which happens to be Apollo (no relation)..tried different bulb...no help. Had to keep the bulb so close to prevent stretching that only the parts of the plants directly under the reflector (cool tube deluxe) were getting enough light.Hence the 2 apollos. Bright as hell....again to touch them you would not think the surrounding temp could be so high. Been on flower cycle almost 2 weeks.Certainly better looking all round thus far. Trying to train branches so light can penetrate better but not working...anything below the top branches will be a waste i think...i don't know yet...seems like you really need side lighting, or a much bigger area with more light. IDK...very new to this....25 years ago i was able to get some pretty strong skunk from under the stairs w/ 2-4 bulb 4" florescents and a 250 kps....3 gal buckets, used to tie the top of the plant to the bucket handle to get side production...worked well for the times when there was no such thing as the internet!!..OMG im old!!!

One Apollo 10 or two Apollo 10 compare with a 400W HPS please?
