Apollo Inline Fans?

Just wondering if anyone has tried these fans made by Apollo with built in Speed Control. To be honest, I'm not sure it's a vortex fan..

I am skeptical after reading the reviews, but it could be just right for a 2x2 tent I am setting up.

I just need something small nd light to pull probably 150 cfm.

I have a Hurricane 4", but it's clunky and hums. If it wasn't on it's last leg I wouldn't replace it.

I'm just guessing, but would a 6" fan be quiter than a 4" fan, generally speaking, comparing two of the same brand?

Ahhh, looking at this further I think it's just an inline duct fan that will struggle under the pressure running a filter... Would it likely burn up running a 180 CFM Filter?

That is a lot of fan for a 180 CFM filter. Most 6" fans are rated for 350-450 CFM.

It is possible that smell will come through a smaller scrubber unless you turn the fan speed down but then you've limited your airflow.

I use a 6" blower and scrubber in a 2x2x4 and you really can't have too much airflow. On hot days I need all 440 CFM or close to it.

6" are quieter than 4" fans, however you will hear a good amount of wind noise on full-blast.

this is what i use . and its a lot cheaper . but a bit louder but they work . i ran one for 3 ears 24/7 then sold it to get a new one to be on the safe side .http://www.harborfreight.com/8-inch-portable-ventilator-97762.html sigh up with email they send you a coupon for 20 % off . you need to mod this to work . but save 150 or so bucks . so you pull 3 screws off and go to your local hare ware store but a adapter if needed for 8 bucks . or put your ducking directly onto it . this will easily cool 4 / 600 watt hps . suggest running it into 2 different paths . it will cool 4 1000 if you have a ac in the room. very large cfm . and low watts this cheap looking fan is out preform most of those hydro units . if your a stealth grower not for you its a bit more loud from all the air its blowing . its 8 inch 1200 cfm !

lol i did not read the part you needed some thing small . lol it has a high and low . this fan is not for you .

as far as inexpensive fans go I have been using this one dedicated to cooling a hood in a tent. Its by vivosun. It works well and has been for a long time. Also had a friend that had one, after a few months his started to make a weird noise, he sent vivosun an email and they shipped him another one right away no questions asked, before he shipped the original back. All my other fans in my other rooms are hurricane.

I have used the green fan Cpapa above listed for going on 4 years.

Get the active air controller as well.

Long continueous use, so quiet I can't hear it 6' away, but I am hard of hearing a bit, and usually only run it on 25% or so power.

Just a nice quiet dependable fan.

Do you run it with a carbon filter? or just as intake or exhaust?

I got this fan and filter. The fan has been running non stop for over 2 years. Comes with a 3 year warranty. The filter lasted about a year before I had to refill it.

If you buy the fan and filter separate, oversize the filter. Like a 8 inch filter for a four inch fan. They make reducers. the larger filter has more surface area. It is easier on the fan and the air travels over the carbon slower so it scrubs better. Last longer too.

No filters. My grow area is a partitioned off 5' X 6' area in an unfinished basement about 500 sq ft in size. Go to post #15 here and you can see some pics of what I got set up. https://www.rollitup.org/t/2013-14-six-plant-600w-grow.742386/

Exhausted air is just dumped back into the basement

Also a 180W LED just for the hell of it. So I am running 1200-1300 watts.

It's an unfinished utility basement so stays cool year-round, perfect for my needs. It does extract some heat through the hood and ducting. When I want it a little warmer I'll put the intake duct on the floor, if it gets too warm (rarely) I'll hang the intake ducting near the ceiling to grab the hotter air.

But overall I just use it to keep fresh air moving throught the grow area. Anyway it seems to me to be a nice fan with way more capacity than I actually need.
