Hi, I have a spare room in my apartment that I want to grow in. I will use either a tent or just mylar/tyvek the room. Anyone have any experience in apartment grows? Ive read through the threads, know you hguys are out there.....I want to yield 2 lbs every harvest, is this possible in an apt? How about smell, will a carbon filter be enough? Would an ebb and gro 12 5 gal bucket system be ok to run? Im looking at that, or an aeroflo 60.
. I plan to complete a couple grows, then rent or put down on a house. Thanks in advance fellow tokers!!!!

I would think your yield would be dependent on the space and how many HID's use flood the room with. 1.5-2 pounds plus is possible per 1000 watt utilizing CO2. I really don't think there is much of a difference in yield between hydro vs. soil.

the apartment will stink. alot.

i would suggest having no more than 2 or 3 plants, in a small grow box/tent. i live in an apartment, and it's tricky. the smell is always there. you can try a carbon filter, it helps, but a big one needs a big fan, and big fans are loud, and apartments are small..... ozium works, but that shit will eat your brain if you spray it more than once a week. there's also the sprinkler people popping in about every 6 months. when living in a rented apartment police don't need a warrant to come in either, the landlord has the key.....

it's a tricky endeavor. i don't have anything in the ground right now, but i'm gonna start a PC grow, cuz anything bigger's gonna stink too much.

i mean you could do it, if you have the $$ to get the fan and adequate filter by all means go for it. but if you're thinking along the lines of budget grow, that shit will smell....

While i feel the siberian tiger is definitely the top predator on earth, there is nothing that could single handedly kill a full grown elephant. Even if the other three were to gang up on it, they still would be no match. The elephant and tiger would be left alive in the end....Anyway, I would think you could definitely pull 2 pounds per harvest if you have an entire room to devote to growing. If you use a grow tent controlling the smell will be much easier than trying to filter the entire room...especially in an apartment

Not to be a buzzkill but I would not try and grow 2 lbs every harvest. it is way to risky. 1 plant in an apt stinks. I would try the grow tent and only grow a few plants. I assume you are growing for commercial reasons. Take it slow brother. Maybe a perpetual grow of a few plants would be the best way?

I am growing one plant in an apt now and it will be the last one I grow in here. I have invested in a spot where I can grow without worries. Anyhow.. be safe. Good luck!

I don't want to be a dick but don't grow in a apartment, way to risky. Usually get 1 inspection per crop from what it seems, I never did it too sketch.

keep it small and you're straight... when the sprinkler inspection came up, i just put everything in the sprinkler-less closet and it worked.....

So I was wondering about the sprinkler inspection. I'm assuming the sprinklers are only in newer apartments. And do they warn you in advance of the inspections. So you aren't legal if you grow in an apartment and are a MED patient?:-o

I have never had a sprinkler inspection
in my life.
I am living in an SMALL apt now
im gonna give it a shot
but i spent some $$$$
sun hut 4'X '4X 7
active air 6" 400 cfm fan
prob gonna use can 66 carbon but not sure yet
i using 600w hps argosun
i built a bubbl ponicssystem
i think im gona go with 3 maybe 4 plants.
lot of money for only a few plants.
but i just gotta be on my game and go for big yields per plant.
good luck

I have the money to set it up properly. I can purchase the tent, whatever fan or carbon scrubber/filters I need. Is a 2-3lb apartment grow being done by anyone else? I would run 3x 600...
This wold be mannly commercial. I love RIU, a wealth of info here...thank you everyone who posted! I'm scared to ask anyone anything in person. I know, you'll say that if I have the money why not get a house? I cant afford everything at once, first and last months rent with equipment, plus the added commute to work...

You can grow as many plants as you can stuff into a tent.. they make some bigggg tents that can hold multipul HID lamps.. This may not be necessary if you can suck the air out of your flower room with a large squirrel cage or centerfugal fan, and force it through a carbon filter and have no smell what soever.. even if you push the air right into your living room.. Carbon filter large enough for your op = no smell.. apartment or not. You may need a tent to be sure that the smell doesnt leak but they do make tents the size of rooms, you may not need this at all

Guys its way to risky to grow anywhere.. why are you harping on this guy, if he has his shit down he can do what he wants to do how he wants to do it.. 2LB a harvest is kinda alot but.. if your only gonna harvest one a year and packup your operation its just as risky as growing 3 plants and harvesting all year round.. do what you want but BE SAFE brotha

Sprinker inspection?...do they get to see your whole apartment on any/every inspection. I'm puttin a tent in my master bedroom's walk-in closet. I was told to keep the grow out of the room that has the circuit board, so would i be in the clear in my walk-in closet(changed lock) from any intrusion or will they want to request vision of the whole apartment on any given inspection?

I'm growing in an APT right now... It's safe to do if your smart about it. None of the places I have plant's can be accessed without a key that is on my key chain and in my pocket always... When I'm not home, there is absolutely NO way of seeing the plants or anything, you can just hear a fan... It's in my closet, I'm not yielding anywhere around 2lbs though... Now THAT would make me paranoid!.. I have 3 plants at the moment, getting 3 more next weekend, no more than that for me!

You just gotta be a G, dog! You can pull it of, just remember: Do NOT have anyone over unless you trust them with your life (for real, cuz that's kinda what your risking, a couple years of it anyways) and even more importantly "Loose lips sink ships"

Good luck on the gro bro! (pix in album if interested)

ok there are diff types of apt isnt there? i live in a house divided into 4 apts i live on the bottom floor each roomof my 3 bdrm house has its own window(air out the apt once in a wile in addition to carbon filters) and my apt is a everything included(heat, electric and water included in rent) so if you had a place like mine it would be NO problem

dont think the land lord would be suspicious of the increased electric bill due to the 1800 combined watts being pulled at least 12 hours a day just from lights then add a fan or 2 and there will be questions bad idea in this instance imho

(i think the op said somethin about 3 6's but i aint slept yet so maby im off) have a nice day

I also grow in my apartment....My concern would be the jump in electric...(if it's included) 1 1000 watt bulb is gonna raise electric about 50 or 60 bucks if you wanna yeild 2 pounds ....(which is really hard unless your a good grower already)you need 2 1000 watters your electric will go up ATLEAST $100 a month not including how HOT it's gonna get So your landlord is gonna notice the huge jump in the bill!!!. Also I WOULD NOT vent outside.. ..neighbors are gonna smell that shit and your gonna get jacked or busted!! But if you still want to I suggest growing in dirt also....I think your roommates/landlord would notice if you had a problem with a fitting and flooded out your apt..pulling two pounds is hard work!!! Good luck!! Just my 2 cent

Wonder....

yeah 1800 watt electrical will draw tons of suspicion from the landlord. come on brah, think a little.

second, have you heard a 400+ fan? they are mini jet engines. air stones and air pump also loud.
