Apartment/Basement First Grow

Hi, First Time Poster, long time reader here.

Im almost done high school and i am gonna be going into post secondary schooling in the city. Ill probably be living in an apartment or a rented basement. Im hoping for a basement.

Anyways, i wanna grow some pot, not much, just like 3-5 plants probably.

Ill be growing in soil, and using either a 250w or 400w watt HPS lights.(thanks to the forums i know that they tend to get wicked results)

CFL's are also an option.

Im gonna assume that the closets will be average 3'-6' foot wide and 5'-8' feet high. Ill probably have my family visiting sometimes which could be trouble seeing as they are very nosy and up-tight. just wondering if a setup like this could be concealed within a closet so that nobody might notice.

Also what could i do if im in an apartment and they have like an inspection or something?

Do they warn you in advanced about inspections?

Any general experience shared or knowledge given will be greatly appreciated.

Not sure what your laws are like in this regard in Canada. In the states I think it varies from state to state, but usually you'll get at least 24 hours notice unless its an emergency situation.

Smaller boxes can be concealed in a closet. What I usually do when someone nosy is afoot is to dismantle the grow room and stash the plants in some large rubbermaid totes, one on top of the other, the 2nd flipped over, using it as the lid for the first. Sometimes a plant or two needs to be bent over to fit, but its better than losing them all and they bounce back.

I also make sure my light cycle has its dark period when I feel nosy people may be around.

I grow in my apartment. If I have to have my setup off when my parents come over. They think my hydrohut is a zip up wardrobe. If it were on, it would be way to noisy. They only thing you should consider using cfl's for is vegging. If you need some help with intakes, exhaust's, just general over all setups, I can help. As well as diagnosing plant problems. I'm in canada as well, and they do give you 24hr inspection notices. Feel out your surroundings, keep quiet, and try to maintain your odors as much as possible. Just follow the normal protocol and you should be fine.

Look just lockup your closet with a good lock, and put like a poster or something in front of it.

Hey, If I were you, I would rent an apartment over a basement if you were to grow.. At least you have more privacy!! I had a friend who grows in his apartment with 3 1000Watts. K, it looks obvious that hes growing because of cords from the brakerbox right behind the front door lol, BUT he does get 24 hour inspection notice, and they dont inspect much because of the volume of people in a complex... If u rented a basement than u have to deal with a landlord up stairs or u someone else...
I also dont want to just repeat what everyone says but, get a product called Ona, and use it with a carbon filter.... Carbon filter's dont work worth shit lol.. I used 55LB of carbon at a low temp/humid and I still smell dope, BUT 3-5 plants it should work!!! Go for it.. and gooood luck man.

there are like dispensers, or just like gels, open up the lid and let it destroy the odour ;]

Yea, it's cheep and stick it in the vents or something, or just have it sitting out.
