Anyone use those mega sized HPS light fixture/reflector?

I was in the grow store the other day coveting a 315 LEC. I need lots of light width. I saw one of those huge almost 3x3 light reflectors. The XXL or Raptor which is 41"x30.75"

I need some major coverage. I think 2 LECs still might be better than on mega HPS reflector.

Do what I do:

Go to Walmart to the school supplies section. Buy the 3 panel display boards that are 36" x 48" for $1.99. Get as many as you need. Go over to Ebay or Amazon and order emergency space blankets. They measure 54" x 84" and come in various numbers. (One blanket will do two of the 36" x 48" boards.) I bought one that had 5 in it for 4 dollars. Use some spray adhesive to secure the mylar blankets to the boards.

Yahtzee! You now have solid mylar reflector panels 4 feel long, 3 feet high with adjustable panels for the grand total of $2.50 each at most. You can hang them, set them on the floor like walls to reflect for side lighting (which is what I do as I don't use a tent), anything you want. Dirt cheap.

And man, it's like you turned on another HPS when you get them set up.

I only run large air cooled reflectors. My barn style ones are sitting in a pile. I replaced 4 per row with 3 large ones and my canopies are much more even and I don't get that outer edge stretching anymore.

+100 Cool tip my man. Thanks.

I love how people on this thread can think outside the box and come up with really cool ideas especially low cost ones. Very clever. 8-)

Thanks. I'm going to make a few more of them for my next grow so I can expand the actual fixture reflection. They really do work very well. I've ordered a 600 watt HPS, but presently I'm using my old 175 watt. When I dropped the two panels I made around the plants, it was like turning on 3 more lights. It was that much brighter.

They work very, very well.
