Anyone use the Herbsnow dryer?

So I have a dryer on the way and a tray extension kit coming too. I know too many people using these to have doubts that they work well. I'm also going to be drying mushrooms in it. I haven't heard of anyone doing this, but I think it should work really well.

Be sure to put her through her paces. We all expect a thorough and considered report.

Any updates? Just packed my Herbs Now dryer for the first time. With expansion I was able to get 1,319 grams (wet, obvi) into it.

I have a couple of these dryers. First run with it I torched my flower. The guy insists you can’t over dry your flower in this machine and repeats that it’s not possible but I beg to differ. Within 3 days my flower felt like a fuckin crispy pine cone lol. Stuff was still extremely loud and potent though I’ll give it that. Could have been my fault as the room I was using the units in the humidity tanked bad and I didn’t catch it.

I just ran mine and had the same experience...talked to Scott on Instagram and got the same messaging - you can't overdry...dry it until you're scared. Well followed these instructions, waited until the stems were snapping and pulled it. Like you my rH is kinda low...around 30-35% at best. So yeah it ran about 89hrs and everything was dry as a nun's...well you get the idea. Lost a ton of weight too - went from around 1300g wet to 330g dry.
Flower itself was beautiful full terps retained, smells great right out of the dryer, and smokable right out of the dryer.
I have been doing some experimentation with the curing process. Some jars have just the bud and others I added a 55% humidity pack. So far, the jars with just bud haven't been regaining any moisture that I can tell, still very crispy. I'm usually hesitant to use humidity packs (caused me hay smell after a hang dry a while ago) but thought these circumstances may call for them. Well so far so good no hay smell and the buds are becoming spongy again! I think I may pull the packs once the bud is kinda where I like it to avoid risking hay smell...just fluff them back up and then keep jars sealed. Cheers all!

These machines dried my bud so much I put humidity packs in all my mason jars which I never do. Within a few days all my humidity packs were bricks and the bud was still just as dry. I lost an insane amount of weight as well. Bud was dense as hell but felt light as a feather. The in house genetics strains I’m running right now are not big yielders so I’m most likely hang drying these to avoid ruining the crop again. Someone suggested to me that the environment you’re running the machines in matters so I was considering running the machines in my tent with the humidifier on but I’m very skeptical. I have about 24 hours to decide what I wanna do as the ladies are in their 72 hour dark period until tomorrow.

I'm very interested in you results if you decide to do that.he does say you need to be between 40 and 60% RH.

We will see. I’m leaning towards hang drying but there’s still part of me that wants to put them in my tent and pump the humidity up inside of it. My humidity the last time I attempted this was well
Within the 40-60% range for the first day and then tanked at some point after that down to about 30-35%. It was too late when I realized and all my flower was pine cone like. Still fire. Still very loud. People loved it but I hated it. Gave most of it away for free.

Same
But also if it works, what the difference in hsing a food dehydrator from walmart or something right lol

Id really really like to know how it goes for you
The difference is that it is designed to not reach the high temps as a regular food dehydrator. That's the only difference. I ask the company and posting the answer for you guys here

I don't get it. People spend months growing. Is it worth saving a couple days drying to end up with an inferior product?

Most people don't use them to save time. Its a space /consistency thing. And thousands of people have vouched for them working. Theres even a youtube video with lab results that show little to no difference between the Herbsnow and hang drying.

However, I believe COVID hit this company pretty hard as they've completely disappeared recently. I heard they lost a huge shipment from China which sent them under.

I live in the south and drying/curing has always been the hardest thing for me to get right. The humidity here easily stays above 60% all year. I just finished a Madberry plant outdoors. It finished just before hurricane Sally hit. I wet trimmed it and loaded up my Herbsnow for the first time and put it in my garage at 70% RH. Its been 2 days of constant rain so i checked in on them today and the RH was 80% in my garage! The buds shrank a little but they were still really soft and not dry at all. The thing is they had a strong hay smell!! I moved them upstairs to my closet just now at 65% RH. They have 53 hours left. I will Update with results later.

I also decided to hang dry one branch without wet trimming it. its currently in the garage at 80%RH but it seems fine so far. No hay smell. We shall see.

Hi all - I've run the dryer a couple of times now. Here's what's up. The bud comes out really dry and light weight and jarred with a little hydrometer turns out to be around 45% rh...not great one might think right? However, the difference using the dryer and curing vs the dryer and curing is this. When you hang dry for like 10 days or whatever until the branches are snapping, you jar it and there's still a whole bunch of moisture being held in the bud, so the curing/burping process is essentially RELEASING humidity - on the flip side if you use the dryer, bud comes out completely dry around 45% rh jarred...in this case, the curing/burping process is INTRODUCING humidity back into the bud! As a result, after a month or so of curing, the bud becomes stickier, heavier, spongy. It's kind of the opposite of hang dry curing. Also, this is not to save a bit of time...it's for safely and consistency...you'll never get mouldy bud using the dryer. Lots of Terps, nose, flavor, very strong thc effects...I personally don't see a downside of using the dryer. However I am curious to the point where next harvest I will do an experiment - I'm going to hang dry 1/2 of 1 plant and use the dryer for the other half, cure them both fully and jar separately. Will present both jars to various people and ask which they want to smoke, eventually smoke both and see if they prefer one over the other. Should be fun! Also yes they've had major supply issues die to covid...obvi it's made in China and once all flights stopped, so did their stock (mail flies in the belly of commercial flights). Didn't hear of them going under though, I'd be surprised if that were the case. Scott is a great guy and you can follow @myherbsnow on Instagram and myself @canadalovescannabis for updates cheers!

Hey buddy yes the environmental factors around the dryer will def affect its ability to dry your product. In fact if it's too dry in the environment you're in, they recommend you put a shot glass of water in the middle. Sounds like you're having the opposite issue. I would recommend you put the dryer in a small space with a dehumidifier. Hay smell is always due to moisture. Don't be afraid to run the dryer longer - as long as it takes until the largest branches are snapping - if no snap it isn't dry yet. You cannot over dry but can certainly under dry. Good luck !!

I gave the dryer a second chance on a couple autos I grew out because I wouldn’t chance it on any of my photo flower again. The thing is junk. Maybe I just got a defective one who knows.

On the recommendation that I f*cked up and the environment around it matters I tested it in my hang dry room. 65 degrees and 60% humidity. I also added a shot glass in the center of it with water. I rotated the trays religiously as well.

With still over 24 hours on the clock it had killed my flower. This was leaving it on stem with the sugar leaves still intact for a dry trim. When I jarred it up it never went above 45% rh in my jars. The only thing that, that is good for is getting your trim dry.

Couldn't have said it better myself. I will say that I've never used one but I don't need to. I would never spend months growing quality cannabis just to put it into a dryer powered by a hair dryer.

I hate to see any small business go under but in this case it will prevent people from screwing up the weed they spent a lot of time growing.

I bought a couple to see what the hype was about. Gave one away and I’m giving the second one away. I’ll stick to a nice 8-10 day hang dry over that any day.
