if so how many plants do you get in there and do you use anything with it like hydroton? + rep for any help

That should work for a tray. I am doing Ebb and Flow and I just use Rockwool grow blocks without any hydroton. I did add panda plastic covers to my blocks after this pic was taken. today is the beginning of week 8 flowering and no algea problems at all. This is a pic 7 days after I bought my clones. Put them right into the Rockwool.

Go to lowes ot home depot and get a large mixing tub. They're perfect. I like it as its a bit deeper than those storage bins.

Greenman made a video called I Grow Green or I Grow Chronic and it can be found in something like 6 or so segments on YouTube where he builds an ebb and flow hydro grow-room starting with a bare basement and on to the first toke of bud. He used containers that were similar to what you mentioned. Not exactly, but similar .... but the point is as long as they are large enough and you do a good assembly job what you asked about would work.

You might want to check out the video. It is interesting and Greenman does use hydroton so you would be seeing what you could be using soon being used.

here is a pic of the girls at day 34 of 12/12 and a pic of my 600W light.
