thats a really nice setup my man. is a 250w MH good enough for vegging? why not use a 600w? i have two 600w HPS lamps and no MH so im wondering what to use. looks sweet though. two 600s? are they two 600w MH or 2 HPSs?

good luck with it. scroggin aint easy. you have to train branches every single day at leat checking them twice a day. constantly tieing and weaving branches. its fun but its not easy. i accidentally broke a branch tonight.

Do you think that all that extra plastic is throwing too much shade on your canopy? Maybe u should cut the tails off those plastic ties. Just a thought

i only veg them with the 250mh until about 10-12 inches in my veg box then move tot he flowering room. and they are 2 600 hortilux hps's in my floweirn room. right now i have no plants in the veg box so im thinking about rigging the 250 up in the flowering room for more watts and more spectrum. 1450 watts in a 9x4 with 12 plants in a scrog. its so much fun!

lol nah man the light penetration of the 2 600s 18 inches above the canopy is plenty. i will cut the ties when i feel like it lol.

its is supposed to be more yeilds but we will see. instead of one top cola per plant in a sog u get 5+ top colas per plant in scrog done correctly. and as the laws of cannabis growing goes. longer vegged, bigger plants=more, bigger nugs.

yeah, you are right. but you have to veg longer so maybe in a year you would have less yield but in one grow you would have more using SCROG. im doing a SOG so well see what I get. Im working with 21 square feet so lets see what happens

your also right. over a period of time i would say a sog would be more productive because of its nature of pumping out small plants very quickly. i have 36 sq feet in my scrog. post some pics of ur sog if u can.

i will as soon as i get all my clones transplanted. right now im vegging four females and they have about 60 clones total so hopefully ill get a good ratio to go into the grow and under the two 600w HPSs i got. then ill throw up some pics and well have a OG off. lol

billybob,

As you know, I am ScrOGging as well. Yours looks awesome, man. Mine is a much smaller scale, but my buds are all starting to look delicious. I am 17 days into flower. I don't know how large the colas will get, but they look like they will all be the same size. Keep up the good work. It looks like you aren't too terribly far from flowering.

Sea of Green is generally accomplished with more plants per square foot than one would have in a Screen of Green set up. The idea with Sea of Green is to raise plants for their main cola. This is best done with clones taken from a mother plant that has reached sexual maturity. ScroG takes a bit longer as the grower has to train the plants to fill the entire canopy. Let's boil it down:

SoG:
1. quicker turnover (taking clones and putting them on the fast track to flower)
2. more plants
3. smaller plants (main cola)
4. easier

ScroG:
1. longer to turn over one batch (plants have to be trained before flowering)
2. fewer plants
3. bigger plants with branches
4. more difficult
5. more efficient use of lighting (even canopy)

I tend to lean towards SoG as my preference. Its advantages seem to outweigh the advantages of ScroG. When cloning plants, it's quite easy to just take off the extra clones needed to accommodate the needs of a SoG grow. The plants require less training, less effort, and are ready to go in less time. If you time your plants correctly, you can get them to make a canopy which rivals a ScroG setup.

if I see SOG defined once more im going to start cutting myself. lol. guess the only way to find out is to do both in the same space. only problem I have with SCROG is that it takes longer and is really only good for an area with height restraints. i dont so I think SOG, for me, is the way to go. less work too.

very very good post rimbeageus. best post ive ever seen from a stranger personally. glad to see a new informed peron on the forums. i tried out the scrog cause ive seen lots of pics and videos of 1 plant producing near a POUND. the object is to have many top colas like a SOG. but only on a few plants. honestly i think sog would be more work cause u have more plants to tend to. honestly i spend 10-15 minutes max in my grow room per day. i check res levels, make sure all the plants look good, and train a little. with 16 plants in a 4x4 area in a SOG that would killlllll me man. every phenotype needing different nutes and care. Just my opinion on that. we'll see how my scrog turns out. did alot more training tonight and iw as sooooooo fun. flowering will commence withing the next 3-5 days.
