anyone know...

That's where the runoff goes, into the big green pipes. Then I imagine they drain back to his reservoir. The pvc pipe just supplies the sprayers. The big green pipe recovers runoff and just allows more room for root growth. I've seen people use 10 or 12 inch pvc but never anything that big. A little overkill, unless they plan on growing some monsters

Yes, I got all that. I assume that 24" pipe is intended for something different -----anyone know what, where to get, and cost?

Also, the video didn't show the big pipe ends, and like you said, plumbed back into that below floor level rez.

"overkill"-----my impression too.

That green pipe is irrigation drain piping or corrugated culvert piping. Probably going to have to get it at a landscaping or plumbing supply house. Most of the big box stores ( home depot/lowes) only carry 6"-8". It's just the root chamber, they probably have the 2" or 3" pvc tapped into the bottom of the green pipe for a drain. That's an impressive setup..I like the sump area for the res. I've considered tearing up my basement floor and doing something similar to take advantage of cooler ground temps. Bury some cooling coils under it and I'd have passive temp control.

Thanks,

At the first of that video, you get a glimpse of the big pipe end and the plug (end cap). Also looks like you said about the drain back to the rez.

I suspect that pvc pipe with the Ts pointed upward is to add a trellis (smaller pvc on the outside of the big pipe).

Yeah, if you stop the video at 0:40 secs you can get a good look at the end cap, how the feed and drain lines are and the trellising pipes, then at 0:48 you can see inside the feed lines running in the pipes under the plants.

Hoping to revive this thread, and see if anyone made progress with finding out what he used for end caps. I used pond-lined covered plywood, but would love to find a removable cap like thr removable testing caps for water wells.
