Anyone here as crazy about DayZ standalone as me

for those not familiar with the game. Its almost like red dead redemption, but you can kill animals and get food from them to cook. There is no standard map you spawn with(needs to be found)no minimap with GPS radar, except maybe on an aircraft. It requires skill and know how to even know where you are, even when you have a map and compass.

there are no computer aids Basically none of the sissy noob assist functions of other games, its all about realism not archadism. Its just you and your gun, if your lucky to find one in a world full of zombies and up to I think over 100 players per server on a ridiculously huge map.

If you find a tent not already pitched, you can store your goods in it, and the tent will stay put in a location of your chosing on that server for up to 7 days if no-one including your self interacts with it. in other words. it is like a small home base you make for yourself that'll last forever, thats if no-one destroys it on you. so a secret location is key

a wide range of vehicles, including planes and choppers that require repair, fuel and maitanence. Again, like the tent, you find it, you keep it on that server forever untill someone kills you for it that is, or you blow it up in a crash. then it respawns in a random location to be found by a lucky survivor.

When you die, your dead. You lose everything you have gathered and respawn randomly in the map with basic gear, a flashlight and small backpack, etc.. If your lucky and your body doesn't get looted by other players or you have hidden a vehicle or tent , you can go back to your body and retrieve your stuff. Thats if you make it without starving to death, get killed by zombies or other players. In hardcore mode its permadeath for your built character.

the more I discover and read about this game the more excited I get. This game is gonna be epic. The most authentic and realistic zombie apocalypse game to date, my opinion.

This game has everything. the devs are even talking about including poop in the standalone. Meaning your character has a poop meter which requires him to, well pretty much crap after a certain amount of time/eating.

Which in tern, means a city inwhich alot of players congregate to loot for food/water and supplies, alot more crap piles, and the higher the risk of spreading infection and disease.

For people who can read the stars, you can navigate if you don't have a map and compass. yes, they are talking about having the real night sky in this game. russian night sky that is.
taking samples from dead zombies to research vaccines. And a load of other cool stuff to add to the realism.

while the current DAYZ is a mod for ARMA 2, The standalone will be based on the new ARMA 3 engine. If your not fimiliar with ARMA by bohemia, its basically a military war simulator, its even used by the government for training.

The devs are even talking about a startup sequence for choppers similar to "take on helicopters" by they're partners in crime, bohemia.

Survivors unite!!

yup.
I also checked out WarZ, it just doesn't have the same immersive feel, realism and depth to it like DayZ. global inventory and strongholds are for sissies. Plus its obvious they copied DayZ

I miss Left 4 Dead but don't play PC games any more. I think my rigs probably a lil outdated. I was so proud of it when i built it... now it's just dusty and out dated.

I'm not reading all of this shit.

Are you talking about the dude that sang 99 problems and is married to Beyonce?

hype, lol. its been out for a while. the standalone is mostly launching with antihacking features, and bugs resolved. then they will start adding more cool things that they've wanted, but were limited in the mod version.

Ya, my first post is a bit longwinded, but the game requires a bit of explanation. Its not like it has 1 or 2 little niche options that the devs talk about over and over, like so many mainstream titles these days.

The game doesn't have the best graphics in the world and can be abit buggy, but the game as a whole is what makes it epic.

the first of its kind. A zombie apocalypse simulator, if you will.

If your not into simulators and rather just play a game that a 4 year old or an 80 year old can pickup, play, and master in 10 minutes, then this game is not for you.

PC only. consoles don't deserve and quite frankly would ruin the game with limitations, similar with what happened with Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 3, a game with maps made for 64 players only having a max of 24 players is just plain stupid.

Anyone here getting "War Z"? It is the game Day Z is suppose to be.
LOL, warZ isn't half of what dayz is as a mod. nevermind standalone. i think you need to take a closer look at both games before deciding where to spend your money.
+DayZ $15, WarZ $30
theres a large list of reasons why you should go with DayZ, to long to list.
I'll start off with copywrite laws for a starter. Warz may be sued and forced to shut down if the DayZ devs decide to. But they are really nice guys. who knows, that may change if the WarZ devs keep on copying they're ideas.
