Anyone had Lumatek ballast issue Lately?

In the past 2 years I have now had 3 of my 600 watt dimmable Lumatek ballast startup, smell of electrical sizzle loudly then shut down for good on me. I have never had any issue with Lumatek ballast and it seems to just be my 600 watters that have done this. Lumatek is stumped why since they insist they only get maybe 1 a year that fails, I like them but find that hard to swallow. They wanna blame it on electrical at site issue , but all have been at different locations with other brands of ballasts going same time and no fails. i was just curious if I was in a bad luck push or if anyone else had any similar issues with the digital dimmable lumatek 600 watters or other sized ballast.

I have two 1000 watters..........one failed after 1 1/2 years and they sent a replacement. That one just failed less than a year later. Bitch is you have to pay shipping back and forth for replacement which is pricey since they are quite heavy. I'm done with them.....Quantum is the way to go IMO......they are lighter, better made, create less heat and last a lot longer.

I've owned a 600 and currently a 400 both dimmable with SL feature.

Non have failed me.

600 was 2 years old and the 400 is currently 16months old.


My local grow shop upholds the warranty and returns them to the supplier should they ever need to send any back. However he tends to stock more MAXIBRIGHT and GAVITA now.

Hmmm the first one that failed I just shipped it directly to them and they paid to have a new on shipped back to me. This time they wont even let me ship direct to them they are having me go to a local distributor/retailer and having them do an RMA so Ill have to pay shipping to them and then see what they do. Guy sounded like at best ill have to pay for the repair if it can be done. Think warranty is up now though on this lot of ballasts. I bought them new online from a trusted seller at good prices even back then. Got the 600 watt dimmables new sealed delivered for $120 each and the 400 watt dimmables were $85 each new delivered. I kinda wish I bought more then the 10 I did. I have a handful of the old magnetic ballasts left I need to sell off and upgrade some things maybe try a dual wattage ballast next time so can run 2 bulbs off one ballast.
