Hello folks i'm planning/setting up my first real grow room..it's in a computer/breakfast "nook" with walls w/windows on 3 sides & then open to the rest of house. The space is 4' x 4' x 7-8' tall (angled roof) i have done lots of research on these forums but cannot seem to find anyone with a similer problem/setup. My main concern is the best way to close off the doorway/open wall so that it's lightproof & i can get in & out easily. Here's my idea: use 6 mil panda/poly to carefully stretch over the doorway (4 ft wide by 7 ft tall) using battens around the edges screwed into the jam. Then use a adhesive zipper to stick in the middle of doorway/wall for access/entry. Then use tape, panda, & weatherstripping to seal up any light/smell leaks. Has anyone ever done anything like this successfully? I figure it will work as many make their own tents/cabs out of a frame covered with poly with good success. The room (once sealed up will have a 600 watt HID w/air cooled hood, passive air intake with the exhaust vented though the scrubber & hood, then to the fan & out a window or through a hole in the poly wall.) The entire "nook" will be lined with panda/poly as well. Will the fact that there is 3 regular insulated walls & one thin poly wall/door make a big differance? I REALLY would like to avoid framing in a wood door or sheeting with plywood if possible.. Any advice or experiance is MUCH APPRECIATED! Cheers, S.J.

@ SnapsProvolone: yea if you re-read my OP you'll see my (hopeful) design includes a "adhesive zipper" in the middle of the poly wall, for in/out access to the room. The wall will be 7' tall, so i was thinking a 6 ft stick-on zipper from the floor up 6 ft.. Those zippers are pretty neat: ya just stick it on where you want it & then cut down the middle with razor knife. Double tape the seams with Gorilla/Duct tape, too. Duct tape is great for strengthening staples for mylar & poly. Cheers, S.J.

Sorry. Missed it in the wall of text.
Yeah Snaps lol my "wall of text" tends to get kinda long. Since i'm new on these forums & have not learned yet how to use the spacing, bold, or any other options things tend to be kinda hard to read. I only have a stupid old blackberry (not very "smart" for a smartphone) for going online (no laptop or PC) so it's all really basic & slow. I wil try to keep my posts shorter. Any advice on better posting would be great. Cheers

I did something similar in my spare bedroom closet (2x4x8). I wanted to seal it off and make sure there was no light leaks, smell leaks etc. So what I did was get some panda paper w/zipper and lined the front of the closet actually stapled and taped it along the inside of the closet. It worked pretty well but I was having some issues with negative pressure. I was using a 190 cfm 4" inline ducted to carbon filter to hood to fan and venting in attic. I ended up cutting a 4" whole in the front and making a active intake with a little 5" desk fan I picked up from CVS. That helped with negative pressure and the panda doors from getting sucked in. I actually ended up taking it all down and going with a tent inside the closet....it is a little more stealth and easy to work with. But yeah should work just keep in mind if you don't have anything to brace the front access part with zipper then the negative pressure may be an issue.
