Anyone good at guestimating yield??

I'm not sure who you're trying to convince? There's too many variables where we both could be way off.....I dunno.

It is what it is.

I'm no expert about this stuff.....after growing 100's of plants I still make mistakes....dumb mistakes at times. Not knowing how much yield one will experience is just part of growing. I play it safe and just figure 2 zips per plant and plus or minus that works for me. If you look at my journal, I am capable of growing 6-7 zip plants....it's all dependent on strain at times. Sat doms like Ghost Train Haze and Blue Dream are not big yielders in comparison.

Can anyone tell me what there thinking this yield may be? Some one experienced with hydro and also and good nutes for bloom in hydro besides monster bloom? i usually use that with soil and its also, oh yeah i recently added a touch of molasses to the water as well. so here's the scoop again, 16 hydros, dwc method, all lollipopped, 4200 watts of hps beamed on them.. any guesses on yield?View attachment 3475091 View attachment 3475092 View attachment 3475093 View attachment 3475094 View attachment 3475095

than you'll probably get about from 3.5-4.5 pounds, Hydro is a little different, you'll find that when they start to put on bud weight, it's going to be hard to change out the rez of a dwc, in dwc you have to much interaction with the roots for my taste. you would have to get a good wet/dry vacuum, specifically to use for this and make sure you check the pH like every 2 days because your gonna get some drifts!

If I where you I'd switch to a flood table, honestly you could probably get 10 pounds easy with a few big ass flood tables an throw a scrog net, dude you will seriously fuck shit up with a flood table in that space!

Your the second person to tell me that, thanks for the feedback i dont really understand the flood table system tho.. and down that put all of my plants at risk? Right now im not changing my res as much as i should anyway, I vegged for 30 days and i changed the water twice. Ive been flowering for 3 weeks now and ive changed the flower only once, im going to change the water once more when they reach 5 weeks and let em go all the way through to week 8 and change it once more with straight water and a little molasses.

But honestly it all depends on the genetics of the strain, and how refined your growing technique is. I mean the last grow I did, I got 1.5 from 6 plants. Genetics and your Growing Technique are the most important factors. By growing technique im referring to your experience level, do you give it the right nutrients, is the soil well drained, etc.

of your running 4200 watts even if your a newbie you should still 4 pounds if you dont then keep reading and learning and in tome you should be able to pull 8 its alll to do with strain and veg time but the girls look good so you should be able to hit the 4 pounds

Hey walter. your set up looks clean and nice. I am a soil grower (but i am doing the opposite of you i'm switching to living soil, not dead water lol) and I have been yielding averaging 1.5lbs per 600 watt lamp. so if i can do 3lbs with 1200 watts... well you get what I am saying. if you don't get 4lbs offa that grow... you should probably re-evaluate your abilities lol. i'm so close to hitting 2lbs offa one 600.... that's a personal goal for me! These people that guess "about a lb" are clearly newbs or terrible growers lol. Stay hard at work, and keep a positive attitude, and reinforce that attitude in your plants. Convince them they will do well and they will if you take good care of them. you know the drill. best of luck. ShLUbY

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback! I used to grow a few years back in my own super soil concoction! I used to harvest 5-10 pouds easy using the scrog method, i have 2 scrogs i just pulled down 2 weeks ago under 600ws, i pulled 1 pound from 2 plants, and of course i had another back room with 12 plants and i pulled almost 3 pounds. I can do some damage in soil, i just wanted to venture off and try hydro, This is my first hydro grow! well my first big, i grew 2 dwc's and pulled 10 ounces off each, they were monsters, a lot bigger than these but i was only able to work with a 20-7 space which they filled completely. After i grew those 2 i wanted to try a few different strain, my veg time in hydro is twice as fasr as soil, these hydros i have now were only vegged for 34 days exactly. But its been a hell of a lot of work to keep them maintained. It was fun for a while but i believe this is my last hydro run for a while just because of the work, i do all the up keep myself so for a old guy like myself it can be pretty exhausting running 5 gallon totes around.

yeah i hear you. i never got into the hydro thing. just never seemed natural to me. but even the soil grows going on today are basically hydro, just no automation. it's all the same in the bottles if you're not being informed and selective about what you buy. i've been learning this. exactly the reason i'm going to living soil... all you gotta do is add water to a well built soil bed. i'll be trying to achieve a no-till flow room eventually. no more changing soil, mixing all new batches all the time, washing containers, buying bottle chemical ferts (even lots of the names the have "organic" in them are not organic themselves). And if you wanna get crazy, you use aloe vera, coconut water, seed sprout and compost teas. NO ph'ing water, NO ph'ing soil. take care of the soil and microbes, and they will take care of your plant. if you haven't before check out the ROLS thread in Organics forum, if you're interested.

Good luck to you with the hydro. my cloner is as hydro as i get haha. i do love the ez cloner style though... works every time. gonna start using aloe vera for cloning :)

anyways it's very hard to answer your question, there's lots of factors, depends on your skills. Few lbs...

I just so happen to have my 4200 watt grow skill assessment chart on hand, it says that...

# of lbs=

0 lbs if they die from root rot right now
1 lbs if they die from root rot week 5
2 lbs if you harvest early
3 lbs if you have the minimum skills required to be in the riu club
4 lbs if you're catching on and learnin shit
5 lbs is what I could do easy
6 lbs now you got the hang of it
7 lbs your all grown up
8 lbs damn you got me
9 lbs i wanna see pics
10 lbs your a fucking liar, unless its fresh

For that setup I guess .6GPW and with a nice trim dry and cure I would say around around low 5lb.

1kw's for me make too much of a hot spot, hate to say it but 600's spread out work better. Trees are too high, alot of energy wasted, I would rather cram in more plants to get fat main colas, somebody mentioned your DWC, it is a pain to maintain a bucket like that, the chemistry is going to swing like crazy. I'm, looking at those plants and i would be hating trim day.

I dont like using glass if I can help it. it does make a difference, but you got to lower your wattage,

Use 20 gallon totes and trellace them out, like i said in begin. If you do, you should get 5 ish, if your enviorments good. But you need to use tote and trellace! Put your pimp hand on your girls n bend them to your will, them big hairy bitches will swole up.

So my house was broken into last week. They took everything including 4 of my plants and they knocked over most of the other ones. But honestly it's still looking like I may pull 2 pounds I'm week 5 now. I spreader the branches put and utilized the light now and hit em with a little pk booster. The buds are getting huge and there very dense. And I still have 4 weeks left. Also there getting very frosty. From the surviving plants it's looking like 3-4 ounces per plant.
