They always inflate the value, they probably calculated it at $25 a gram or something.

worst part is it was probably one of his friends that got caught with a few grams of weed or something that turned him in.
They also probably counted the wet weight, and maybe even the weight of the grow bags they were in. I've seen cops count the weight of cannabis plants with the roots and stems all still attached.

Yeah that really sucks And they don't know that they lose 80% of their weight. They probably took the whole grown bags with the substrate and everything and weighed them. Looks like maybe tens of Thousands worth to Me. He was doin his thing though wasn't he. Had his house crammed to the max lmao

If you wanna get technical.. I'm pretty sure that once colonized, even the wet substrate is considered one big block of fungus, that would test positive for psilocybin all the way throughout. Even after it's spent, and you got 3-4 flushes, with trich growing everywhere... and consider it worthless, the whole bag or tub would still test positive like that right?

Yeah most likely.

that whole system is kinda dumb, same as how they don’t account for purity with harder stuff. If you try to hide a gram of coke by dumping it into a gallon of water I’m pretty sure now they’ll just charge you with 8lb of low purity coke :dunce:

Yes, technically anything colonized with the mycelium would likely test positive. However, the amount is very small. We used to save our blocks and dry them out for a while. We sent a bunch to a chemist that was supposed to be able to extract them and pull a 1-2% yield. I never saw the blocks again or heard anything about them after they got delivered. It seems like you would need some fancy equipment to isolate just the psilocybin from a block of substrate.

I'm still trying to figure out this contam. I'm starting to think That it may be the Pennington wild bird seed I'm using. It's this white powdery S***, that keeps showing up And is sometimes hard to tell a good jar from a bad jar, And if I spawn a jar that has any of this in it, I'm sure it weakens the mycelium and makes it Susceptible to trich. Maybe why some of my tubs get it.

On the other hand, I had a large amount of mycelium "duff" and refluxed it with alcohol. I came up with a light brown yellow gum that was extremely high in psychoactives. A ball the size of a Pea was over an eighth in strength. Problem was they were very sticky, I rolled them in Wheat flour and ironically they got moldy.

You can start by isolating the source of infection. Do a half a dozen jars and don't inoculate them.

Then inoculate with what you usually do but on agar, same procedure.

You know I have been wanting to work with agar and test everything before I use it. 20 minutes Thinking about it, I don't even think it's the birdseed. LMAO. I'm thinking it may just be the LC that I'm making. I'm doing everything in a SAB But I don't feel it's good enough. I think the only way I'm really going to get everything narrowed down is If I get a flowhood.

I can't continue To be clueless about where contams are coming from. This s***'s making my head spin. I need a flow hood NOW. I. Just gonna buy one. Any suggestions on where to get an affordable flowhood. I can probably spend 5 or 600.

Mycology supply has a 13" x 15" flowhood on sale rn @$299 from $449. That sounds like it might be too small but check out the site, they may have deals on larger units.
I was just checking them out. I'd like a bigger one but i'm sure I could make something that Size work for what i'm doing. I really just want to be able to do my work in front Of it like drawing up syringes of LC and inoculating jars.

Does it matter if the laminar flow hood is vertical or horizontal? I do like the flow hoods that have the work area contained by 3 sides.
I have no idea if technically one is better then the other. I know I have only used horizontal flow, and feel like I would prefer horizontal. I liked being able to keep my work with in a few inchs of the flow surface and having my workspace clear behind that. I also liked not having a face shield in front of me. It made the production flow that we used much better. If I had a shield obstructing me it would have drastically slowed things down.

This really doesn't seem like a bad deal, its a 2x2 and on sale for black friday:

This one is a little bigger and not much more expensive if I'm reading the add right I think its the whole set up for that price. https://www.amazon.com/INTSUPERMAI-Vertical-Workstation-Aluminum-Laboratory/dp/B09C5QVL53/ref=asc_df_B09C5QVL53/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=564798424304&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=4596123326771579301&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9033047&hvtargid=pla-1535302727250&psc=1

I don't know where you are located but this looks like a SCREAMING GOOD deal for a sweet unit from what I can tell. https://hgrinc.com/productDetail/Dust-Collection/Used-Edge-gard-Horizontal-Flow-Hood/07231710001/?var1=cpc&var2=google&var3=07231710001&f=shopping&utm_source=merchantcenter&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=merchantcenter&src=gads&keyword=&adid=&MT=&site=&sepos=&device=c&campid=20167730282&adgid=&adtype=pla&merchant_id=562609565&product_channel=online&product_id=07231710001&product_country=US&product_language=en&product_partition_id=&store_code=&loc_interest_ms=&loc_physical_ms=9033047&network=x&tid=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Pmax-Demand&hsa_acc=7976513933&hsa_cam=20167730282&hsa_grp=&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=x&hsa_tgt=&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-pyqBhDmARIsAKd9XIP5gVitNa14v9zZzvlsCUAOAJhwwylPetmOK9luUNxQT2r8EI7XaaUaAmIZEALw_wcB
A company like that is where we got our big ass hood on the low :).

This unit seems like it could be mounted horizontally and you could just work in front of it. Or maske your own side shields. https://hgrinc.com/productDetail/Dust-Collection/Used-Edge-gard-Horizontal-Flow-Hood/07231710001/?var1=cpc&var2=google&var3=07231710001&f=shopping&utm_source=merchantcenter&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=merchantcenter&src=gads&keyword=&adid=&MT=&site=&sepos=&device=c&campid=20167730282&adgid=&adtype=pla&merchant_id=562609565&product_channel=online&product_id=07231710001&product_country=US&product_language=en&product_partition_id=&store_code=&loc_interest_ms=&loc_physical_ms=9033047&network=x&tid=&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_content=&utm_term=&utm_campaign=Pmax-Demand&hsa_acc=7976513933&hsa_cam=20167730282&hsa_grp=&hsa_ad=&hsa_src=x&hsa_tgt=&hsa_kw=&hsa_mt=&hsa_net=adwords&hsa_ver=3&gad=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-pyqBhDmARIsAKd9XIP5gVitNa14v9zZzvlsCUAOAJhwwylPetmOK9luUNxQT2r8EI7XaaUaAmIZEALw_wcB

I would test out some different grains or even another LC before building a hood. What if you went through all the expense/trouble, only to have the same contams?

Picking all the sunnies out of the WBS kinda does sound like a pain. They are tricky enough to grow on coir as micro greens without some molding up in the trays. I have a feeling they buy all the worst batches when used for bird food, so yeah.. I've also heard of bad experiences with it as grain spawn too.

Maybe try out a few bags of brown rice from the same walmart you get the WBS. 5 lb sacks for 3.99, which makes about 7 lb of grain spawn per bag once its cooked, which isn't too bad. Clean, and easy to sterilize like the other smaller grains would be. Thats like $40 for 50lbs buying it like that, but you can find better deals for 10 and 25lb sacks I'm sure. Making it just as cheap as going to the feed store.

Yeah you should still build your own FFU anyway, as much as you are into the hobby now.
