Anybody grow with 6500k all the way through?

How'd it go? I'm on my first grow and super strapped for cash so I can't afford the 2700k CFL's now. How did your harvests turn out with 6500k all the way through veg and flowering?

Also, if you've tried both methods, I'd love to hear comparisons, preferably with that being the only variable (i.e. same strain, time, watering, nutes, etc. except for the 6500k during flower vs. 2700k during flower)

yeah, same here. i've been following seemorebud's buds for less pretty much. but i've got 6 6500k and no 2700k and just read through the book some more and found that on like page 30 or something he finally says that they are 2700's. so he veg's AND flower's with the 2700s. i dunno, we'll see how it goes.

hey growr, if your going to use the 6500k.... veg for a while (x)weeks at that point... couldn't you save up for the blubs....flowering with 6500k is not ideal. not the right spectrum. (not getting what she needs) The buds are really fluffy, not worth it at all....poor smoking. when your ready to flower go to a 2:1 ratio 27k to 65k. ive had really good results.

good luck!

yeah, i know they're not ideal and you need the red band you get with the 2700k, but i'm a college student, no job, $65 to my name lol so i really can't afford it. just because they're fluffy, why would that make them poor to smoke? i'm already 2 weeks into flowering with the 6500k. -sigh- we'll see how it goes.

I started flowering with 6500k... plant hermied immediately. I went out and bought 2700's and she's doing fine now.

Also my first grow so I'm not sure if it was my fault or if it truly was the lights. But I will tell you she put on about double the size in 2 weeks when I put the 2700's up. they are like 7 bucks for 3 of them. Shit you might as well steal them they are that worth it.

hermied under 6500 changed to 2700 and is now alright? thats a new one. of course I know nothing is impossible!!!! But when I've had herms I tossed because they were way to seedy.

dammit. alright, so i'm going to get these lights from lowe's. they're only 26-watts though. 4 pack of 2700k. i'm gonna replace 4 of my 6 6500k with the 2700k. only problem i see is that my 6500k are 42 watts. any problem with the 6500k overpowering the 2700k?

if you're really that strapped for cash, buy the bulbs u want, same brand, bring em home and swap out the bulbs and return em
the average house wife or joe blow isn't gonna know the difference

lmao, this is wrong, but sooo funny....

but feirefiz is right this would work...

My 1st grow, i didn't know about spectrums and just used what i had at home. (which were 65k)
the problem is when i harvested them, they were fluffy/airy... looked like a pipe cleaner scurnched, not dense. plus it had a little amount of crystals forming....if this makes sense. but it's all i had and it worked. But after you see 27k in action...no going back.

got 4 2700k running now. unfortunately, they're only 23 watt because that's all i could afford. but i got 4 23-watt 2700k and 2 42-watt 6500k on one plant. she's lookin really good. check it :)

Yeah first plant didn't have anything else going so I figured why put all that work in and throw the plant out.. it's had maybe, 6 or 7 bananas and I pulled them all... definetely have some seeds though... maybe 20-30 haven't counted them.

Like I said though, the plant growing the nanners could be because of other reasons too.. I'm a newb.

oh ya, they've been within an inch or two this whole grow. burnt two leaves, but all good. no buds though thank god. i'm so excited to get over and check on her today now that she's got her 2700s! unfortunately, i'm leaving for a week for fall break and then another week for thanksgiving break, so that will be the first time they will be more than 2" away from it. probably raise it up 8" to be on the safe side. give her about a gallon of water and hope for the best.
