As long as you have all your paper work I wouldn't worry about it.. few people told me by time you get your card it will be time to renew!!

I've been hearing the same thing. But then I also hear that four months delay (between the "fifteen days" and receipt of initial patient card) is the norm. Renewals, as far as I've seen, come in a matter of weeks (about two months). This is the first I've heard of five months delay.

The MDCH (obviously) underestimated how many people in Michigan need the MMMP. They need to get their shit together in-house because outsourcing the card-making takes too much time and money. It's simple data entry, put a card in a printer, put the card in an envelope, send that shit out. The mailing time is four days tops to/from anywhere in the state. So turnaround should be maybe ten days (and that's for an inefficient office with know-nothing workers).

The MDCH isn't supposed to be making judgments of whether your condition is deserving or not (that's why you paid a doctor). They should be checking that your doctor is legit (which, honestly, you should have done before seeing them). And if you didn't mess up your paperwork then you get your card. It's that simple. Five months between sending the application and receiving the card is simply unreasonable (one might even say it's unconscionable). I'm all for a class action. Let's sue those motherfuckers into compliance!
