Any reason NOT to keep the lights on 24hrs during veg?

I have a bubbleponics set up (combo DWC, drip/top feed and an air stone) with 2 "150" watt CFL bulbs, one is 65k and other is 27k. they're in basic work lamp fixtures. although, I plan on adding an extra set to make a 4 bulb apparatus like this:

|-[27k]
|
|-[65k]
|
|-[27k]
|
|-[65k]

so, according to everything I've read, it seems like in the veg stage, i should leave the lights on 16-24 hours a day. Now, I figure more light = more energy and growth. But, I haven't seen anyone who has their lights on 24hrs. I can see doing like 18hrs for 1000W HID's, but these generate practically no heat.

so, advice?

Yes there's a reason. Plants need sleep just like us. But not as much. Dark periods are very important. But if you actually read anything on this site you will see that tons of people do 24/0.

I have tried it both ways and it seems that after seedling stage there is not much to be gained form 24/0. I actually noticed the plants are more lush and healthy using 18/6 and I have read that the rest during the dark period is important for uniform growth. There are plenty of folks that go the other way. It is really a matter of personal preference and I prefer 18/6 under my T-5 and MH.

wow. i switched to 18/6 and after only the FIRST dark cycle there was very noticeable growth, thanks everyone.

Also, I'm using the stealth hydro dual spectrum kit (i know it's overpriced, but the dude told me it was idiot proof and guaranteed i would have awesome results).... and it had a water pump with a 6-way manifold running piping to each net pot. The pipe/hose rests on the underside of the rockwool cubes. In the beginning they recommend keeping the pump on 24hrs. However, i'm seeing some brown spots that might be signs of over-feeding... and i'm wondering if i should put the water pump on a timer, like maybe 30min on / 2 hrs off
