the oversized hoods are fucking awesome, i have two and love the shit out of them.

as for fan, you'll need an 8'' for the oversized hood, 6'' won't work (you could use reducers, but that will fuck up your filtration and and air flow/ventilation/cooling).

here is a link to a 8'' can and fan... i believe these guys price match as well...

this is what i use, and i've had no problems and great success, and the price is very decent for a can and fan combo.

get a box fan they work better and make less noise

at worse I`d get a turbo fan, rvk, ruck and homefan (something like that) are all pretty cheap in the uk

but a good box fan is way better

you want to go with 6" or 8" or bigger reason is noise, 5" or under you can`t move much air and its gets noisy fast like a hoover sucking even if the fan is quiet the sucking noise gets loud

Get an 8", 10" or 12" filter an a good box fan

then run hood... duct....... fan-filter yeah its the wrong way round but if you get a big filter it don`t matter a good 8"+ filter thats 300mm to 600mm tall will last well over 2 years running the "wrong" way

you get more space in the grow too

I used a 8 or 10" 1500cmh box fan that way for a year or 2, when it went to another op I set it up the other way round as it suited that grow better

Ok its better to blow down flexi ducting but if you over build your fine

Shop around loads of "new never used" and good fans on ebay in EU 2nd hand going for almost nothing like £10 to £100 for fans that are £200 to £400 "new"

Grow stuff aint worth shit in the EU cos tomatoes aren't worth anything and that`s all a good boy should be growing, LOL

I'm running 3 RVKs, 1 Rhino and 1 SwiftAir.

The SwiftAir is fine IMO. Blows plenty of air but also my loudest fan. I have all my fans hooked up to variacs so it's not an issue but you should be aware they're not exactly quiet.

I'd happily buy one again.

what do you mean by box fan? this is what i picture...

how do you hook that up to ducting, and how would you get enough pressure to operate the filter?

@zyggi you said you had (or are getting) the dominator xxxl hood, so i looked it up to find you a fan, filter, and ducting combo pack for that particular hood...

this ventilation/filtration system:
https://jet.com/search?term=8'' inline fan and carbon filter

fits this hood (dominator xxxl by sunsystem):
http://hydrobuilder.com/sun-system-dominator-xxxl-8-in-air-cooled-reflector.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=shopping&utm_campaign=904420&gclid=Cj0KEQjw9vi-BRCx1_GZgN7N4voBEiQAaACKVgGBxeApbqynBd_AEgAZD8D5K_Sriynxi3go9DvHfGsaAgzw8P8HAQ

i didn't know they made a six inch. i don't know why they did, but i would HIGHLY recommend the 8'' over the 6''. it will work much better for odor control, ventilation, and temperature management.

good luck buddy! :)

wouldn't be very efficient for me, all my centrifugal fans are industrial sized (think warehouse) and belt driven. the 8'' inline is perfect for the 2kw we currently run.

Jeez so you have to keep spare belts on the wall ? lol

sounds cool, but one 8" box fan can cool 2k of hps in 5" cool tubes cos I`ve done it, lol

they are pretty quiet and you can get them pretty cheap "used" too

Had one get jammed 2/3 months ago the guy never noticed till I went by saw some dying plants on our hottest week of the year, not sure if it jammed up that day or had been that way for a week, what I do know is its only ever me that seems to spot the problem, my partner will just water more

I mean he`ll go from watering a plant once a week to everyday and still not think "why is this getting dry so fast"

anyway I`ll give that motor its dues it was jammed for 6 hours to 7 days no way to know how long, it had no trip out on it, blew no fuses and kept working as soon as I fitted the blade correctly so seemed pretty well built, shame no one used thread lock on the dam grub screws, lol

i know it can, but i have the inline, and it's small and fits the filter, hangs in the tent, just easy and effective. if it ain't broke kinda thing...

i have several industrial cage fans for full building air extraction (not pot related, just keeping uncooled buildings cooler by extracting hot air at the ceiling of outbuildings). they are WAY overkill for 2kw, could probably run 10-12 on one (3hp motors), and wouldn't be space efficient in my room.

the belt thing made me lol, i've used bicycle innertubes as belts before, and worked well for a couple months. the kevlar belts last for many years. but i do still have dozens of belts in various sizes hanging on my shop wall, so you called it. lol

i have the xxxl hoods (huge fuckers) with 8'' ports. i can touch my cheek to the glass after they've been on for 12 hours, so my needs are well met with this compact inline and wide but squat filter.

i still think that's a cool way to run a squirrel cage tho, pretty cool!

Sounds like my old snap-on compressor

long as there`s something over the wheels it`ll work like a belt or a g-string :p lol

Yeah the box fans are good as you can use 2 L brackets and drill a hole rite in the wall, kinda like a wall ac unit just let them power the air right out the box

sounds like we need to find a weed tower to put them extractors you have in mate...... I`ll find us 30 to 100 1k`s if you know where to get the dirt near you, lol

i live in farm country, 250 bucks for a dump truck load of top soil... less if you get ten trucks or more.
