Need a new 400w mh lamp, was looking at a few dual arc 10K and 20k spectrum lamps.
Any one know if they're good for growing weed, they're normally used for gowing reefs in aquariums.
They also are high in UVb

those reefs are micro-organisms that feed off plankton and algae which form from light that needs to pass through water, I'd stick to regular MH lamps or even switch to a straight HPS set up since your not trying to get intense light through water to grow your herb.

*EDIT*

An old saying comes to mind when posed questions like this....."If it was better, wouldn't everyone be doing it?"

That is true, after doing a bit more research seems to be 5000k to 6500k is the ideal range for veg

no UVB in single ended bulbs make it past the outer envolope and barely any UVA but a 10000k bulb isnt a bad choice, but would be better for flowering in combo with an HPS. for veg the best bulb is gonna be a Venture 5000k but they can only be used in the base up position. i would go with a bulb with a rating between 5000k to 7000k personally i use the hortilux, but i will be switching to the CoralVue 6500k.
