Any negatives to letting roots grow into res?

I believe the roots going into the RES is called deep water....LOL it fine for them to go into the RES imho....

Yeah I thought so. I only asked because after using Clearex for the first time on my moms the other day I noticed within minutes...yes minutes afterwards about an inch of solid bright white new root tips....it was pretty cool actually.Anyways I got to thinking maybe I was doing something wrong....but thanks man, good looking out

Except the aerogarden is an overpriced piece of crap and a regular DWC will give you better results for half the price
built 1 of thease 2 weeks ago and it works well.
ive had 5 out of 7 clones with this method in 2 weeks heres sum pics...
how long do my roots have 2 b before i can put them in soil? thanks ..

over priced isnt the word. I use old spackle buckets for mygrows. they are perfect! tight seal on the lid 5 gallon RES and I poke a hole on one side of the lid for my air hose. when my plants get to big and need to be supported I was a light gage wire wrapped around the stalkand back to the slits in the lid. this works perfectlyand my cost is about 3 bucks.

Yes it is, but the roots might now reach maximum potential/production unless there is some degree of oxygen in the resovoir water. If your resovoir water is not highly oxygenated by an airstone & an air pump, it might be better to just keep the root(s) trimmed. What is your primary method of Hydroponics? Aeroponics, Bubbleponics, Fogger?

it ok to let the roots grow in water thats the method called (DCW), just make sure the water isn't too hot or it could kill your roots.

a good water temperature is between 65-70 degrees,

dont let the roots grow into the same container as your water pumps because,

-it will be engulfed with root mater and suffocate the water pump -seriously...

-and the pump adds heat to the water.

the bigger the air stones the better. i found some sweet circular ones that are 5" at a pets store. PERFECT for the bottom of 5 gal buckets.

something to remember, if your air pumps are in a hot location they will be pumping hot air into you water, causing it to heat up.

Just showing the potential of a dwc.

the only down fall with a dwc....you have to get a chiller..

but there are several alternatives to dwc

DWC the plants live in water and you drain then fill their water every few hours to keep it cool and to refresh the nutes

Ebb&Flow is a little different the plants live in a grow medium, usually hydroten clay balls, and you fill their container for a few minutes every hour. No chiller is needed

sorry if I jacked this thread :eyesmoke:
