I'm not exactly sure what about the molasses helps, I've heard it was the sugars, so is there anything else I can use?

Molasses is a soil conditioner,it provides sugars that feed the soil micro-organisms, feeding the soil micro-organisms it allows them to break down nutrients. From my understanding on the subject.

AN has something called liquid "CarboLoad"
Botanicare makes something called "Sweet"
Grotek makes something called "Carbomax"

All about $15.00 more then molasses.
