Any here rented a shop and grew in it?

Had a buddy do it and it worked out great for him. He had a nice sized garage and worked on cars in the front and grew in the back. Did it for years and never had a prob. The bad thing about doing it in something you own is they will seize your property if they catch you and that is a big loss of $$ on top of leagal probs.

A legit bussiness is a good cover, plus it affords you a way to clean up all that money and pay taxes on it so it seems like your business is doing real good

not that you have all this extra money laying around and have no explanation were it came from grow on brother...

ok finally got some pics taken... building the veg/mother box is taking much longer than i thought. not to mention it sucks balls working on something like this alone without the option of asking for any help.

here are some pics of my shop. the box i just built up on the loft is 8 feet long 5 feet deep and 4 feet tall. prolly going to have to expand this box once i get rolling but for now its going to be alright.

the space under the loft is where the stadium style flowering will take place. this space is going to be 7' deep 8.5' tall and about 10' long. with 4 600w hps... i believe. not set in stone yet.

only thing i'm unsure about is exhausting out of the shop. there is 4 inch ducting to the outside from the heater but do not want to tie into that.

shop is 18x26 and about 18-20 feet tall. is this enough air space to not have to exhaust outside yet? i will hopefully only be at the shop once a week to check on things. thus letting in fresh air once a week.

smell will be taken care of.
auto watering system works awesome.
will start a journal once i get some seeds germin.

can you draw your intake from outside? you kinda need fresh air. i have a room within a room though and i don't have a fresh in or out. my intake is the black PVC tubing. my exhaust is the cardboard box on top. i'm exchanging the air in the flower room but not the main room. it works.

i'm going to drill into the ceiling and see what i get up there. hopefully free water when it rains? haha j/k

think i can just tie into the heater exhaust? maybe if i put like a one way flow valve on it so i don't get any of the heater exhaust in my rooms. pushing air out this should suck fresh in thru the cracks around the overhead door, not sealed too well.

Your going to want to seal it up, with the size grow you'll be looking at it, it will be a problem with the smell getting outside. Though your doing a great job so far. Wish I was that good at building!

alright so you think putting eggcrate foam all around on the inside then covering that with white poly will work? i am going to caulk all the seams on the inside.

fdd i love the cardboard box as an exhaust cover up. will work well for intake as well in my case.

prolly won't be running till next month. like i said before, tough to do alone and secretly.

oh yeah forgot to mention i almost took a 12 foot dive off that loft..... lifting a 4x8 sheet of plywood up an extension ladder wasn't too easy alone. and my dumbass had the sheet resting on the top of the ladder and i tried to carefully step from the ladder to the loft but put too much pressure on the board which caused the extension ladder to kick out and i bounced off the loft and luckily caught myself on the way down... hung for a half second and then dropped. coulda been super bad since noone knows that i rented this shop even. knock myself out and not be found for a few days... so from now on that extension ladder is secured at the bottom with 2x4s... shoulda seen me goin up and down the ladder the rest of the day... bout shook it right off the loft hahaha.

Is the eggcrate foam for insulation I assume? Wouldnt it be easier to maintain if you built a concealed room in the back of your area with framing and R-19 or higher, if needed, and drywall? The light will degrade the poly in short time unless its of sufficient thickness (more than HD's 6 mil stuff). Not really sure of your design so I'll shut up.

yeah i guess i was going to order the poly from HTGsupply. pretty sure thats 6mill. i've only heard good stuff about it... and its cheap enough to replace once a year.

eggcrate is more for sound deadening rather than insulation.

If its just poly (visqueen) plastic then you can get it in a roll at HD cheaper (imo). If its mylar reflective sheets then its different. You think you will generate that much sound to need to sound proof?

LOL, sorry. In doing my attic ducting, I had same issue. Noone to help. I climbed up ladder into attic and kicked ladder away from the house. Sat in 115 degree attic foe two hours hoping a neighoor would come home. I had left my cell inside, as with it in my pocket, I couldn't fit in attic door ( I'm no waif). After what seemed eternity, I jumped 16 feet to my doom. Remember, I'm no waif. Fractured my tibia at the ankle. This harvest better be the bee's knees

lol land. thats a good and bad story. good for entertainment purposes but not any fun to have to go through that. sorry to hear it ended with a hospital trip. oh and welcome to the forums.

as for the sound proofing. i'm in a shop with units all around me. yes i think sound proofing is important. i'm doing this right the first time.

my buddy found a warehouse grow when he heard the fans running next door to his friends unit. they heard the fans and went to investigate. they found the grow. :evil:
