any help please

well last week my girl and i got into a fight, i hit her on accident not really thinking. she went to the hospital to make sure everything was fine since her face started swelling up right away and they immediately got the pigs involved thinking it was an abuse case. she was mad and told them i hit her but the docs all said it looked like she was hit with a blunt object, my girl didnt want anything to do with cops and immediately regretting saying anything to them at all. after talking we are gonna tell them that i pushed her down on the bed and she hit her head on our wooden frame. now all this happened last week, the cops that night pressed serious demestic assault charges on my ass and put a warrant out, i havnt turned myself in yet and am going to but am kinda curious what will happen, i live in ia im 19 and my girlfriend 20. i have a clean record and really didnt mean any harm on her at all.

any advice or personal situations any of you have been in similar to this? what was te outcome?

1. don't be a maggot and be beaten on the chicks
2. DV's only move forward if the witness is present.i.e, if your girlfriend doesn't show up in court, charges are dropped.
3. i reiterate number 1

Call a lawyer. Before you even speak with the police. If you can't afford one, call the public defender's office. (But, really--get a lawyer.) Have an attorney accompany you when you surrender yourself. With luck they can get you booked, arraigned and out on bail all in one day. That's worth a couple hundred dollars of fees. Not to mention that they might get you a much better disposition. They might even be able to get the charges dropped if your girlfriend doesn't want them pressed. (This is much more likely with a private attorney than the public defender. The public defender will probably cut a deal for probation, unless you insist on going to trial--presumably because you know your girlfriend won't testify.)

Don't just stroll down there and turn yourself in with your dick in the wind.


And stop hitting women.

As a father of 4 daughters I say you best pray her father doesn't find out. Sorry but I don't have any sympathy for you.

My first sons mother would hit me and then call the police when i left. Never hit that bitch once. I kept getting arrwested though. I kept trying to explain that i smoked so mouch weed, that I i really couldnt beat anyone. I was areested anyways. Never ever had charges actually pressed.
When i found out i was going to prison for other things, I told her if she ever called the police on me for that again, I would make sure that there would be a reason before the police could show up. Never happened again.


I don't hit chicks because there is no reason to. They cannot whoop me. A girl would have to do something pretty bad for me to lay hands on her. No sport in hunting game that can't fight back.

Nonetheless, if i was attacked by a woman, i would atleast try to restrain her and calm her down (unless she had a knife or something, but in that case id run), if that does not work i would call the police.

You should have never submitted to the impulse to fucking hit her. The fact that you fucking raised a hand in violence to the one you love is a strong indication that you have violent tendencies that you need to seek professional help for. I have no sympathy for you unless you seek help. You should turn yourself in because you fucking deserve to be punished for hitting a girl, you pathetic asshole.

Okay. So basically the exact same thing happened to me and my boyfriend. He was drunk and I had taken his phone away from him and he accidentally scratched me. The neighbors called the po and they came and made me give them his phone, which they used to get him to the police station the next day where he was immediately arrested. There was a no-contact order filed right away and we have been fighting it ever since (it's been about 8 months)

The laws are so fucked up when it comes to this shit. I know it was my fault because I was basically harassing him, and he had never been in ANY trouble before. It all boils down to how much money they can get from people through court/jail fees. The police where I live will do almost ANYTHING in their power to arrest people, even when they know that they didnt really do anything that horrible. I've had my house broken in by the police (yeah, thats a WHOLE other storyI understand that there are cases where women need to be protected from homicidal husbands or whatnot, but how many women are actually arrested for DV? And how many crazy bitches do insane shit to their significant others?

Anyway, I'm rambling. But I seriously doubt that you are a "wife beater". Do take the advice of getting a lawyer (if you can afford one) to go WITH you to the police station. And last, just be careful. Know your rights before you go in there.

a pile of SHIT. Fucking pathetic. domestic violence, of course, is oftentimes a learned behavior, but that is absolutely NO excuse. I learned a lot of fucked up shit from my schizo parents, but I have never even ONCE seriously entertained the idea of raising a hand to anyone I love (or anyone else for that matter). Your behavior is truly fucked up, and if you don't talk to a counselor at least once (you can take your girl with you if you want, and you two can work it out together), then you deserve to be locked up before this violent behavior escalates even more out of control than it already has. You need a lawyer. My friend had the something happen. The county (the cops) pressed the charges based on both of their original statements. This along with his attitude got him in jail, 1 yr probation, mandatory anger management class and a $5,000 fine/fee (lawyer and fine)
