  • Hey i have 20 cups in a closet currently only 5 have sprouted 2 almost 3 weeks in now my questions are about the lights i have and a few others
I have a 850 lumen cfl hanging above them with 2 longer type fluros but i picked them up at walmart the package read under cabinet grow light for better vegatation and growth and the other is the same thing just smaller but they are on each side of the plants and are close enough to them now basically would like to know if anyone else has seen or used these lights im just trying to save on the electric while keeping them nice and healthy

    • the soil im using is a natural soil with no chemicals figured might as well so i know what goes into it right but one has the first set of leaves almost completely wilted because of magnesium i believe il recheck that but i treated it with some schultz plant food the rest that sprouted are doing okay i think they only about 4 in high max though would that be because of the cups as a pot

Im not growing anything fancy just some nice reggie bagseed the seeds were nice and mature when i planted them and at almost 3 weeks wouldnt most of them sprouted by now. and my setup is in a small walkin closet with sliding doors so there is the light leak through the middle crack also a fan i have a small 6 in personal fan on low all the time an osciallting fan would be to big for the room leaving it on though is good i read just looking for some expericend advice on my cheap cheap setup i spent more in trying to get really good seeds then everything else probably about $25 max in lights and dirt but everything seems to be good and i keep it around 70 in the house so i dont use a heater or anything

hey chiefems: maybe you will find something here for making your decisions... everyone has their own way of doing things from what ive learned,
I am doing ebb and flow, I was using the hydroponic drip, I am going to add airstones so I have oxygen in the water as I understand that when water gets warm
it loses oxygen...I have a 12 pot system I like the ebb and flow way better than the drip system...other than that im a newbie so dont know all that much,
I do have a lot of urls from learning how to anything...

One is a flurosecnt type you could say but the package said under cabinet grow light for stronger vegation and flowering with low watts (17) and high lumens (if i remeber correctly it said 1800 lumens) plus it gives off the reds and blues they need its 2ft and then the other one i have is the same thing just an 18 inch bulb on the other side of it with the cfl hanging above theres a total of 54 watts with all the lights going and the fan blowing directly on them well is that a problem

you want 100 actual watts per plant min more is always better

but if you have less watts but same lumen output then whats the difference right? i know im going to need more hanging cfls i planned on putting up 2 more on friday with 6500k bulbs still would only put me at around 130 watts for the whole setup

What I did for lights was get 4 CFL's at 14w each, 5000k color spectrum. I spent like $20 for the MG soil, 1 light fixture, and 3 light bulb socket splitters. I'm at about 240w equivalent and 3200 lumens for a single plant grow. When it's time to flower I'm going medium balls out and getting 23w-27w 2700k spectrum CFL lights, and I'll be in the 400w equivalent range for flowering.

yeah man after looking at splitters im going to oder a 4 bulb adapter off ebay and then get some 5000k or 6500k cfls on it and call it a day and leave my fluros on the side still im just doing this for experience and well who doesnt want to smoke their own right
