Anti Siphon/Vacuum in drip lines help with draining the reservoir

I recently switched from a submersible pump to a suction pump. I have had a bad case of siphoning.
I have a return line back to the reservoir after the pump before the first bubbler. It will continue to siphon on some lines not all?
I have included some pictures. Does anyone have any solution? @Renfro

I don't have any solutions to offer but I'm really intrigued by this set up. Can you show of more of the grow and how the whole system works?

Nah this is turning into a shit show, I would not recommend this at all ATM. Filled a 2 gallon bucket in about an hour FML...just shut all the bubblers and figure it out later.

Red arrows show water flow, blue arrows are the after pump return/vacuum break to the reservoir. @rkymtnman
i have an idea, not sure if it would work but would be easy to make.


on your suction line coming out of the trashcan add a short washing machine hose that is in a loop. cut your pvc, add 2 female threaded ends that fit a standard washing machine hose.

like making a loop-d-loop with matchbox track kinda. that will break the suction (pretty sure)

How do you collect runoff?I dont see trays under the plants or maybe Im blind.lol.
So your saying when pump turns off water still flows?Pump is so low compared to top of res.
Sure looks like a revamp is in order,learn and move on.Good luck.

System seems a tad overcomplicated for what your doing. I think I see your direction and thought process on it though. Use one way check valves if you want. I prefer an air release valve in some situations. Not an issue outdoors but, might have to position it so its not splashing a bit a water when the pump kicks on if its running off and on often that could be an issue. I see your using floraflex stuff also. Ill link you a floreflex one that will match your gear. It goes highest point on system. Will break the syphon when the pump shuts off. Or just use a check valve also.

The pipe will push a small stream of water back into your reservoir when running, but allow air back in the line when the pump shuts off, breaking the vacuum/siphon.

I've been running mine like that for over a year now with no issues.
I've also been a licensed plumber for over 8 years too.

Have u looked into using a check valve ? Maybe that’s your solution it only opens at a little higher psi and it won’t siphon

Skip the auto watering setup and switch to semi-automatic
Ignore the filter on the end of the hose the included one was too large for my container.
Basically you have a wireless keyfob outlet and a hose to water from the resorvoir, no point in lifting water or complicated autowatering systems,
still gives the benefit of interacting with the plants instead of autopilot

I've been running mine like that for over a year now with no issues.
I've also been a licensed plumber for over 8 years too.
So I am going back to a submersible pump. My last pump had a float which corroded and contaminated my reservoir. I am looking for a good pump and I will go back to KISS. What size is that pump? @.Smoke

It started off quite simple until the reservoir would drain :wall: It will be fine when i find a better submersible pump. Live and learn.

I ordered an oil free submersible... going back to the old way.
