What is the difference between moonlight and having a small crack in your indoor grow room that lets a small amount of light in... Plants growing outdoors don't mind the moonlight why should indoor plants have to be 100% dark.... just high and thought RIU could solve this one for me..

I've wondered the same thing. I'm read somewhere and i'm not claiming it to be a reliable source but having absolute darkness encourages the plant to flower harder because it is a more absolute dark period. Small light leaks wont ruin a grow but supposedly it will decrease your yield.

Hopefully someone will have a definitive answer for you but it's not i.

I think it has something to do with being in the complete dark your roots store up extra food.
But im not 100% sure.

Cool thanks grob, i figured it was something to do with maximizing yield or basically just because indoors you can control that factor. i wonder how big of a light leak it takes to produce light equal to moonlight.. i had a crack on the zipper of my grow tent that i didn't notice right away so that started this whole Q/A but thanks.
