Another shitty ViparSpectra grow

One of us is out to lunch lol .. I've been following a lot of cob grows and the girls don't seem to like more than 1 cob per plant. In a 4x4 I think you are maxing out at 6 plants in 5 gal pots without over crowding. I concede however I may be off with 6 plants. But I think that would be a good plant count with a 4x4.
I know timber is selling 12 COB Vero set ups for a 4x4 space. There's a reason I'm asking around and planning this before I dump a ton of cash. I want to keep this under 600 for 2 tents/rooms

It's a 4x4. Ive been told to flower in that I need 6 288v2 or like 9 COBs. Not trying to drop that much cash. Also, I'm going to try and get 2 rooms running so I can stagger harvest.

I priced out strips and the build was in the 500 range for a 4x4
4 288V2 Quantum boards will run a 5 x 5 size no prob.
You can strap a 480 or 600w meanwell with a dimmer pot and celebrate with pancakes.

In a free hang ( open room ) it will footprint nicely above a 5x5 but 4x4 is even better.
Tent hangs you will be able to “ throttle down “ to a comfortable power range that will not light stress them. The QB will bleach the fuck out of plants if too close. You WILL BE SURPRISED how much nicer the plants you grow with “ less “ power. These are MID POWER leds ( Samsung ) so they get more efficient “ at MID POWER LEVELS “ ........ say 50-70 watts per even though you CAN go balls to the wall.

Thanks. Im definitely thinking COB though just because of the price difference. What do you recommend on the CLU08-1212, I'm being told 6 by some people, 9 by others, and 12 in some cases. Was going to pick up 24 and make 2 set ups and just under drive them if they're too bright, and break them up then turn them up if I decide I want a third spot for mom's or ved or whatever.

My shitty Vipar run. It takes damn near as many real watts as HID but they grow bomb fucking weed, and plenty of it. 570 watts over 3x3, yield...I don’t know or care, lots.

I like COB and Quantum-type boards and strips for different applications, but sometimes good enough just is.

I will eventually build or buy both quantum and cob setups, but I do fine with HPS, Vipar, fluorescent, you name it. One must merely throw a lot of damn photons at them, they don’t care how. I use HID to partially heat my house at night and LED during the day. I love winter because I can grow 2x more with no damn AC.

I am doing 12 plants in DWC under these lights next run in this little tent. Zero veg clones, no media. It is going to be epic.

You are being a bit prescriptive, not everyone plays this game the same way. I have done 9 plants and plan to do 24 in a 4x4. I jist finished 6 in. 3x3 in 3 gallon pots. I plan to do 12 in that same space in DWC. You may not be familiar with the zero-veg from clone method many SOG folks use.

Fair enough. I knew when I said 6 plants per 4x4 someone was going to bite me in the ass a lil for that one. BUT !! :D From what I have learned so far more plants don't = more weight. Would you say its fair that you could have got the same weight in that 3x3 with 2 plants in a regular grow?

Edit: I guess there is no really comparing that crazy grow style , but I think for the avg grow 6 plants is a fair number in a 4x4.

From what I've seen for options posted in this tread I would still roll with 4 autocobs from cobshop.net or build your own. You wont fill you 4x4 up this grow but you wont have to replace anything for your next grow and can add another cob after harvest or when you can afford. It puts you right into your budget and easy to expand.

I think why we are coming up with different #'s for the amount of cobs in a tent is because I grow autoflowers.. I dont think they can handle cob intensity like photo period plants.

I have two tents and was thinking about growing one plant, taking clones off it for SOG then switching over to 12/12 on the clones and the mother plant in separate tents. I'm just messing around and growing for fun.. Is that what your referring to? Something simmer?

I pulled a bit over 580 grams out of that 3x3 with 6 plants from seed, flowered as fast as possible after recovering from a single topping, 3 gallon fabric pots, soil, blumats, homemade nutes, and 570 watts of shitty viparspectra light :joint: I am cool with that. Cheers, fam, as they say.

Totally. I have two flower tents, lights on opposing schedules, one durng the day, one overnight. They are also offset by one month from one another. So every 30 days I harvest one tent and start a new run in it. I have a closet woth a couple mothers that I pull clones from, flowering them all directly after some good roots appear. I basically pull a lb per month out of a tiny bedroom with about 1700 total watts of light. That’s my production model, rather than my expermintation and pheno hunting. I just grow for kicks too, I gove away everything I can’t smoke.

@rkymtnman tons of UVA spectrum in them, they work pretty good
i just got my lux meter and have been checking my veg and bloom area. veg is fine but bloom is pathetic. i was way, way under what i was expecting from my cobs.

does teh par model ahve a 3 yr warranty too like the v series? and what do you do for a warranty issue? they pay shipping or do you? and do you ship to here in the US or back to china? any idea?
thanks!!

Cobs and quantum boards are objectively better lights, just saying these work too.

I will look up warranty information, I would probably repair them myself, because I’m capable of that, or I would just check them and get something else because mom I would probably require than myself because I am capable of that or I would just chuck them and get something else because I am impatient.

I got mine for $120 each new, it was a steal on ebay, someone screwed up

wow, must be dyslexia. that is a damn good price.
They priced the two-pack the same as a single light, it was $224 plus $10 shipping for the pair.
If you want to add supplemental blue spectrum to your tent $200 is not a bad price for these lights, the diodes are decent. Have considered rocking both of them and a 600w hps in my big tent, it would crush.

The 235 watts per unit is based on measurement averages from samples I took from my lights using a kill-a-watt device, your wattage may vary.

I am guessing a newer electrical system than exists in my “facility” would pull slightly more current than I have measured.
