Another Miracle Grow Question? (PIX)

I have 8 dry quarts of each of these



I have 2 seedlings (1 bag seed, 1 Blueberry) started in a 16 oz cup of
100% Miracle Grow Organic Choice Potting Soil (.10-.05-.05). I want to transplant them soon into 7" (1.5 gallon) square pots (where they will nest till harvest).

Is it a must that I change the soil? or can I just mix it with some Perlite and be fine?

and if Miracle Grow brand is my only convenient option at the moment for soil, should I transplant to a different type of soil (standard potting soil or Moisture Control)?

Also, isn't my Perlite supposed to be 0-0-0? Miracle Grow Perlite is 4-1-6.

My Vermiculite is 100% Vermiculite with no N-P-K, but will I even need this stuff?



I don't expect a single person to answer all my questions (that sh!t sho would be nice though) but if you can answer just one I'm good!

Hey I have a question about the MG potting mix. I also am using MG and the nutes are like .12-.8-.10 or something similar....

My question is, is that enough nutrients? I have read that you should go with something like 24-10-12 or somewhere around that. The MG stuff is "POINT 12". does that add up to 12-8-10 or is that really only a fraction of a normal nutrient solution. Kind of confusing. I ask because my plants are growing good but sort of slow, I want to put some light nutrients in there...

You know dude, I actually was on the quest to find the same thing. And YES that decimal changes things from a whole point to a fraction. For a while people were telling me that "Its the same thing " bull and I wasn't buying it cause that would mean that the Organic was rated higher or just as higher as standard potting soil. And no other potting soil I seen had that decimal next to it.

My Miracle Gro project was actually terminated due to frozen temperatures cause I had the window open. :wall: I didn't feed it any nutes and the soil alone had it growing GREAT. I invested in a bag of Ocean Forest since then for more of a "RIGHT" grow. lol Good luck and if you need me... I'm here for you homie!

and I mixed it with a bit of Miracle Grow Perlite. It's also rated with a decimal.

Keep in mind that Organic Choice literally looks like chunks of mulch when it drys out. lol Like on the playground. lol

Ocean Forest is the best ive found.I add a little peat and perlite sometimes Peat is a must.My roots get fucking massive.The bigger the root ,the bigger the fruit.I have never tried the really high end mix because my mix is fine.:leaf::leaf::-P:-P:leaf:

dude i was using a mg soil and it was hella slow growing im trying a new soil from fox farm c alled happy frog i trans planted a clone from mg to that and within days that shit was blowin up it is amazing how much better you do with the stuff formulated for what we do!!!! weve just been putting money aside for the stuff we need and its doing wonders hey we have all been told "if your not gonna do it right dont do it at all" this covers a lot of shit..........and cannibis

True! I thought happy frog was a fert or for like an outside grow. Need to look into that.

Awesome, thanks bro. Finally a SOLID yes or no answer. Although I assumed it that it was only a fraction of standard ratings...Anyway. Plants actually seem to be doing pretty good, not gonna get impatient and add any nutrients. I'll let them do their thing, in the end I know my patience will pay off :)

that MG organic plant food is the greatst stuff since sliced bread ad a cup to a 3 gallon pot and you will make buds... but all miracl grow soil sux.... get hard as a rock..

Would it be safe to add some light nutrients to my MG soil? It is only rated as .12-.14.-.7. I ask because my plants are healthly looking but they are growing extremely slow, they are now 31 days old and only up to their 5th set of alternating leaves with some minor inter-nodal growth. The branches and nodes growing are really close together, it's definitely not stretched because the light is sufficient (150w HPS + 2' x 4 bulbs T5) but I think the nutrients are lacking, the plant should be exploding with growth by 31 days :(

Start off with a little and see if you notice any change in growth, look, etc. Then increase by a tad more next watering.

Ok, I've watered them with a half strength solution of the MG "All Purpose Plant Food" mix at 24-8-16 rating yesterday at around 6PM and it is now 5:46 PM the following day and the plants are looking healthy and kinda perky. So far so good, lets cross our fingers.

Thanks for the advice bro!

No prob! My 5th grade teacher used to say "A little dab'll do ya!" whenever we did any art projects with glue. lol And it stuck with me ever since.

What a coincidence, i used that exact combo and it was AWESOME!

However, i was constantly battling pests, gnats and white flies primarily, and more so than with a sterilized mix.

No reason to switch to the moisture control MG if you are combining the potting mix with pearlite and vermiculite, this combo works just as good if not better.
A good pest inhibitor may be to add some extra pearlite or sand to the surface of your grow medium, to make it less attractive to gnats.

I like spraying my plants and soil with neem oil from the beginning of veg and through out the grow as a preventative. it also makes my plants grow faster.

How is your temps? I found that the warmer it got the more gnats I had flying around. When I installed better exhaust and the temps dropped, I dried the soil out a bit before I watered again and set a little container full of witch hazel beside the pot. The lack of water lead them to feed off the witch hazel and they killed themselves. oops! Don't drink the kool-aid at the peoples temple!
